Well, Iv'e been going over several different methods & guides found here at doom9, for a couple of months now. I'm trying to make a back-up of a DVD which contains multiple PGC's. Four to be exact. The original DVD only contains these 4 PGC's & the main menu. The total size is 7.3GB. I've tried the following methods: DVD-5->DVD+R, DVD-9 -> 2 DVD+R, & DVD-9 -> 1 DVD+R using DVD Maestro. Either the finished product is still too big for a general purpose 4.7GB DVD, or it just groups all the PGC's in to one continuous PGC, which makes the original main menu useless. So far the best results in being able to fit it on the 4.7GB DVD have come from using MakeItEasy with DVD2One. Unfortunatly the later occured, being that it grouped all the PGC's in to one. Anyone have any helpful sugestions? I'm on the brink of giving up. Heeelp!

Just wanted to precise that DVD-R/+R doesn't have 4.7GB capacity, but 4.36GB. May be this is why the recompressed files still don't fit on the DVD ;)
So try to lower the targeted size.

Are u sure DVD-R dont have 4.7 gb as ive just bought a couple of blanks for a friend so i can back up some stuff and they say on the front of the disk 4.7 gb!!!
it would be considerably annoying if they did not take 4.7 and instead took 4.36 gb
please can u confirm this someone who has used DVD-R to back up files and not another DVD
Cheers

HD makers and DVD media makers use 1GB=1'000'000'000bytes where any normal person would use 1GB=1'073'741'824bytes, thus 4.7GB disks only contains 4'700'000'000bytes=4589843,8kb=4'482,3MB=4,37GB of data...:( Sad but true.
And I've been able to make perfect copies with DVD2One retaining all PGC's as separate chains using jdobbs method described in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46770) Just run the method once on every VTS-set, ending with the actual movie VTS and you should be OK.

:) Thanks, that was to be my next & final step in my trial & error process. I suppose I'll have to calculate the correct padding size for each VTS-set. I will work on this method this week-end. I've been waiting to watch this movie for two months. Hopefully I'll get to finally watch it this week-end. Thanks again. You've been most helpful.:p
