Ok guys, if you can help, I would be grateful...
I downloaded a movie from a file sharing problem. Xvid 640x272 with mp3 VBR audio. I converted the audio to ac3 2 channel with a 192 bitrate with Besweet. I then frameserved the video using avisynth to CCE for 16:9 playback. After encoding, I loaded both the ac3 and m2v into spruce up and made a simple menu. After fixing some synch problems with the video, I thought I was successful. I fixed the spruceup 16:9 problem with IFO EDIT and created an image with imgtool and burned using Recordnow DX with my Sony DRX-500UL (same as a DRU-500a except USB 2.0).
I've now wasted 3 DVD+R discs trying different things (before I wised up and started using a DVD+RW). Here's my problem (and don't hesitate to ask question if I'm not clear):
On placing it into one of my two standalones (which have played the same discs fine so far, so I don't think it is a disc issue), the simple menu I made comes up. I hit enter to start the video. It plays for about 7 to 8 seconds before completely freezing. If I try to go to the next chapter, the image of the next chapter comes up, but then it freezes.
I'm almost sure it isn't a video problem. I converted the file with both TMPG and CCE 2.5 and have the same problem with both. It could be an audio problem, but I've run ac3fix on my file and found no errors. I may try it with an mp2 next. I've authored dvd's in the past using spruce up with no problems.
I put this in the Authoring section because that may be the problem, but I seriously have no clue what I'm doing wrong. This is my first try at creating a dvd with an .avi so I don't know if there are some problems inherent there.
Please help.
