Hi all, I've a big problem with subtitles:
I've encoded a dvd with DVD2DVD-R that use CCE 2.50 as encoder and
Ifoedit to author dvd. With this procedure I've encoded many films
without problems. Now for the first time, I've encountered this: I
cannot switch off subtitles, even if I select disable, subtitles
remain active. I've tried also with InstantCopy 7 with same results.
I've tried in different standalone and pc players. I've tried also
(by subtitles guide in this forum) to add precommand [51 00 00 00 be
00 00 00 ], but nothing changes, cause subtitles are not deactivable.
If I play .vob files subtitles are not shown, so problem must be in
.ifo files. I've tried also to change subpicture id from 0x20 to 0x21
in ifos and in vobs with vobrator, nothing changes. Naturally if I
strip out subpicture stream, subtitles are not shown, but in this
film subtitles are needed in many scenes, cause characters speak in
another language. There is some other locations in Ifo file where I
can change subpicture start or deactivation? There are no prohibited
user operations too... Please help, I don't know what can I do...

1. Using "Smartripper" rip the Movie and Audio only to a specified folder.
2. Using "VobSub Configure" extract the subtitles directly from the DVD, don't need to rip movie first (Open, Change File Type to Ifo and Vobs)
3. After the 2 files *.idx and *.sub have been extracted use "SubtoSup" to convert this files to the *.sup format that IfoEdit recognizes only this file will have the correct timeline, i have tried this with lots of movies and worked 100% every time, hope this guide helps.

TO GET VOBSUB AND SUBTOSUP GOTO http://www.doom9.org/ and click on the Download Link

P.S.

I hope this guide helps, i've been using it with almost every movie and it worked flawlessly, any questions let me know

Procedure of DVD2DVD-R already creates a .sup file for me, then I author dvd with ifoedit... I've no problems with a lot of dvds, just this is creating problem with subtitles. I think that somewhere in VTS_01_0.IFO there is a wrong command that enables subtitles and don't let me disable them, but no prohibited user operations are set up and no pre-commands are present in PGC Command Table (there is not PGC Command Table). When I play dvd in subtitles I have English and Disabled, but also when I select Disabled subtitles are again there. When I play .vob files subtitles are not shown, so problem is not in .vob files. I've also tried to create new .ifo files without any change. I really don't now what else I can do...

Have you tried re-creating the IFO's using Ifoedit? click on the Create IFOs Button, the only thing is that you need to specify the Audio Type and Subpicture Type in the new ifo, you just need to copy the info from the Original IFO's the other thing you need to copy are the Subtitle colors. If you need any help, please let me know, hope this helps

These are original and modded ifos. Let me know if you'll find something wrong. Thank you.

Ok I have found this kind of problem before a few times
I suppose you used infoupdate rite

Well at maestro just do this:

Lets say you have sub1: Ing
Sub2: Spa

At sub3 just creat a subtitle, you dont need to write anything on it

then creat the vobs do an info update and now it should turn off when you go to the menu and select the option.

The only thing I dont like is when your in the movie and you use the subtitle botton to switch you will se an extra subtitle Sub3 english

Hope this helps

Thank you Rol2, problem is that I've already muxed .m2v, .sup and .ac3 files. Now I have only vobs and ifos, do you know a way to insert a .sup stream into vobs? And how can I create a empty .sup stream? If you explain me correct way to do this I'll be very grateful.
