View Full Version : Video Resolution Setting in VMG overview

I’ve started to use Ifoedit to produce quick multi-audio back-up mini- DVDs. Very basic, I’m not saving any of the original menus or IFOs: I’m just ripping the video and audio, re-encoding the video to half-DVD resolution (352 x 480 NTSC) and then authoring the re-encoded video with the demuxed original audio tracks with Ifoedit.

The result plays fine, but I notice that after Ifoedit authors and produces the new Ifo files that they have the wrong video resolution listed in the VMG overview for both new IFOs (Video TS ifo and VTS_01_0 ifo). It lists 352x240 instead of 480. I've used Ifoedit to change them to the correct setting on some, but it seems the ones that I do not correct seem to play back just as well as the ones I correct. I put in a mini-DVD I authored with Spruce-up that plays fine and noticed that Ifoedit shows that its IFOs also have the wrong resolution listed in the VMG overview (in this case falsely listing full DVD-resolution).

So how important is getting the video resolution setting correct in the VMG overview?
