Hi,

I use Ulead DVD Workshop for DVD authoring.

There is a new product coming out soon :

http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html

I bet that I (and many others) will move to this product very shortly after it is released. Why do I say this ? Because I use MMB (Multimedia Builder) from the same company for 2 years now. The excellent forums, the support from this company and the cheap price of it's products are great reasons.
I am sure that in the near future, DVDLab will have all the features that we only see on high cost software such as Scenarist and others.

Check for yourself.
Time will tell if I am right or not.

too bad it doesnt support subtitles and multi-angles...
other than that - it's real cheap for what it can do - $79..very cheap.

Hi Hendrix,

On the last e-mail I received from Roman Voska ( or Oscar, as we MMB users call him ) , dealing with subjects related to DVDLab, he said :

" ...I have many plans for the future of it but it depends on the sales. I want to push it up to the multiple audio, subpictures and multi-angles yet still remain a low price. But it takes a lot of time and resources. "

The advantage of using Mediachance's products ( as I do for 2 years now, with it's multimedia authoring application, Multimedia Builder ) is that it is a company that hears what it's users want, and the developing teams will take your opinions and needs into acount for the next version of the product.

Again another part of Oscar's e-mail :

"...And of course I will love to hear any suggestions "

So, it would be really cool if we could compile a list of features we would like to see implemented for DVDLab. As it has not been released yet, we might even see some of our requests included on the first version.

so far dvdlab is probably the most powerful authoring program in it's price range...excellent alternative for those who can't afford DVDMaestro and/or Scenarist. 5.1 and DTS support - very cool.

hmm, the specs look good, but a few limits:

- it supports multiple VTS' (Titles), but no idea if it supports MultiPGC.

- audio/angle/subtitle limits as mentioned before (altho for the price, its not expected to have those).

- only 99 chapters per title

the interface looks quite good, a little reeldvd-ish.

now to wait for the demo to see if it acutally delivers on the promises ;)

If someone of the DVD authoring pros would give it a thumbs up, I would buy it right away (that means when I lend a credit card from someone ;-) ).

Two questions:

Is the program released? *edit: Doh! "This software is not yet released."*

Has anyone tried it?

*Edit no2.: I've send a short mail to the programmer pointing him to this thread, maybe he'll look into it. :) *

Cheers,

Mijo.

I will also give it a try as soon as a demo is available. It looks indeed very promising.

If the author adds 2nd audio capability (or even more), this would really fill a need of people doing miniDV conversions (i.e. using the original audio as well as music, in 2 audio tracks).

I think that this would give it a real competitive advantage (as similar products from Ulead, Magix, etc) don't have it.

Regards,
Andreas

and hopefully the interface will be usable.

btw, is that a one man programming company?

The limit of 99 chapters per title would suggest only one PGC, since 99 is the max chapters per PGC.

But, this sounds promising. Better than the crappy "authoring" software that comes with a burner or DV camera.

This is really exciting. I just got a DVD burner and am sorely disappointed by the uselessness of MyDVD 4 and Ulead DVD Workshop SE.

hmm, i thought DVDVirtuoso (which only creates single PGC, single VTS) could create 128 chapters.

ill have to check the manual on that.

Hi again guys,

DVDLab will be released by the end of this week .
Check it here :

http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html

If you want some details, check the online help file and the tutorials, with some really cool stuff.

Then join it's forum, which I asked to be implemented, and was kindly and quickly done by RastaMan, that forum administrator :

Hi guys,

Auenf : I see you already registered on DVDLab forum. That is good. Waiting for your appreciation of Oscar's DVDLab.

To all : Put your effort on the best features we need for DVD authoring, and use the New Feature Request thread, on that forum.
Oscar is implementing some requests on the pre-release versions.

I think this is a unique opportunity to talk with the author of the DVD authoring tool and have his direct response.
