you're totally wrong indeed :P

I can't find the URL but in doom9 somewhere there is infos about REG and EHQ. you have to download it and start it to apply fixed EHQ to RV9 encoder.

let me try to simplify the instructions given here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55193).

1) Download the EHQ enabled erv4.dll (http://www.lillevold.com/files/erv4.dll).

2) Goto the folder where you have x2real. Then navigate to its bin\real\codecs sub-folder.

3) Make a New Folder called 'backup'. Move the existing file erv4.dll into this folder.

4) Then copy the erv4.dll you downloaded into the bin\real\codecs folder. This erv4.dll should have the Description 'RealVideo 9 EHQ (karll 07/24/2003)', when right-clicking on it and choose Properties.

5) Download this reg file (http://www.lillevold.com/files/rv9-ehq.reg). You may have to right-click on this link, and choose "Save As...". Double click on rv9-ehq.reg, which you just downloaded. This is the registry over-ride to enable EHQ. Remember you have this in case you would later like to use default RV9. Then you need to edit the reg key to say 65 instead of 80. Remember this is a hex number.

Now this should work, but I did not have time to verify right now. Will do tonight.

@karl_lillevold,

Thank you for the step to step guide :)

I can say that the method above is "working",
I can see the speed is 6fps now :)

I don't know why akabob is not updating his x2real,
maybe he's too busy as he said in his last post.

--off topic--
Is there anyway to find out if the movie is encoded in the EHQ mode ?
and the EHQ mode quality used ?

Thank you.

I don't think so. EHQ is only better Motion Estimation IIRC.

@Karl

Stop trying to look cool by completing all what I post :p ;)

@ookzDVD: we plan to include in the RM file information about how it was encoded, i.e. complexity mode, but I am not sure about the current status.

@Sirber: EHQ is more than that. From my EHQ info post, which summarizes the complexity levels:

65 = Default : improved efficiency for high action
70 = High : same as 65 + better mode decisions, better representation of high motion
80 = Extra High: same as 70 + best possible mode decisions, very high accuracy motion representation

Thanks for the guide karl. And now my only problem is that akabob's links to zip-files doesn't seem to work anymore :(
