View Full Version : broken divx3 file bugging me all day

well i've finally decided to watcgh Jackie Brown once again but when I wanted to play the CD i burnt ages ago (don't know when that was but i was still using divx 3.11) it didn't want to. so i took isobuster extracted the contents of the cd to my hard drive leaving me with the full movie and a few broken frames. Now i simply cut out these frames with divFix and afterwards did a directstream copy with Vdub. Then finally the movie played fine so i can watch.

now my problem is: I cannot seek within the movie file. if i try it in wmp it hangs it same with bsplayer, vdub, vdubmod and nandub.

after rebuilding the index in vdub it told me that seeking might be slow because of me not selecting rekeying (or whatever it is - from the extended open options). So of course i tried that too.. it starts off fine - slow, but ok - but what kept me wondering was that it was trying to rekey a total of 400 000+ frames - strange as the movie only has about 200 000. anyway i didn't even get over 200 000 because at approx. 190 000 vdub /mod /nandub crash on me (again). telling me that a frame was corrupted and couldn't be decrypted.

anybody got any ideas on how to solve this problem?

PS: I could reencode the DVD but it is scratched and giving me problems to rip...

edit: this thing is just driving me to hell :devil:

well i've now also tried muxing it into an ogm stream but this didn't help either. i can normally play the movie file but as soon as i want to seek forward (or backward i suppose) it crashes the media players!

this is freakin drivin me crazy :-(((((

re-encoding doesn't work? (you're faulty btw, not being gentle to your CD and/or DVD, never touch them on the data side, always put them in their cases back :p )

well i guess it should work but it would mean a certain quality loss and as it plays fine i hoped i could avoid that somehow, but it seems that it doesnt...

PS: oh come on, let me blame it on the cheap cdr media i bought back then... :-P (and the DVD well that was a friend of mine leaving it a month or so upside down (or rather downside up :) on his desk. i've almost executed him for that anyway .... :-P
