Sacd & Dvdaudio

Ok ..people....i have no clue about Super Audio CD's and DVD Audio.....i am a newbie in this field....so was wondering whether anyone here knows some more about the phenomenon.....is it possible to make your own SACDs or DVDA...with some kind of software ...encoding it to a higher bitrate or something.....any one who can answer my question????

I can't speak for SACD but DVD-As are much better protected than DVD Videos and there's currently no way to make a copy on your PC (I think DVD-A player sometime have regular optical outputs allowing you to make a digital copy in CD quality.. of course such an interface would make use of SCMS making a copy of a copy impossible unless you modify your hardware).

Yes, and very unfortunately its creators have decided to downsample the signal on the digital output of 192 KHz DVD-A's to 48 KHz to make copying in full quality ( almost ) impossible.

A very stupid decision IMHO, at least from a marketing aspect, as the real criminals trying to distribute illegal copies of DVD-A's will find a way around that anyway using 'special' equipment, but the real HiFi/Audiophile freaks do loose interest in these devices as they cant combine their DVD-A players with external high-quality D/A convertors, or only without having the pleasure of enjoying the improved sound quality of the higher sampling rate ....

Oh well, I doubt you can detect the difference between the original 192khz signal and the downsampled 48khz one.

thnx for tha posts guys ..i was just wondering whether we have a software which we can use ....to encode a mp3 file or some other file it to a higher bitrate ...and then make a sacd from that or a dvd audio???

With what program can you make a digital copy (from the digital in of your soundcard)?

MP3 has even lower quality than CD, so it doesn't make any sense to make an SACD out of it.
As you may know, MP3 is a lossy compression format => what is lost is lost forever ;)
On the other side, ACD and SACD are not compressed at all.
So if you're wondering about your MP3s, be sure, you already get all what you can get when you burn them to a normal audio-cd.
The same applies to a normal ACD, you can't make it any better by modifying it and copying it on SACD.
