i am trying to do some creative editing of an animated menu in premier using an m2v ripped via dvddecrypter -- although i get no errors when importing the file, when i preview it within premier, it is choppy/jumpy. it exports choppy as well. the original source m2v plays fine. has anyone encountered this before? any help would be appreciated.

Normally Premiere doesn't supprt MPEG-2 files at all. Though it accepts MPEG-1 files, but as you said, will playback and export them "choppy". Without any plugin you can only work with AVIs. But at the moment I couldn't think of a plugin, but i know that there exists one.

premiere 6.5 supports mpeg2 export (and probably export to, not sure), also ligos has mpeg2 import/export for premiere.
