hollow sound and slight hum

I've been trying to capture some video and all the audio i have been capturing has a hollow sound to it and a slight hum, i have sound forger is their a way i could use that to fix up the sound, or perhaps another program. Thanks

bad cable connection might cause hum. check your cables.
also, make sure that you record only the sound from the capture card. once I recorded a mixed TV sound+ background noice from the microphone :D
You can also try recording in 44kHz 16bit stereo instead of mono. Worked better with my previous capture card.

Those are just general tips, if you need something more specific, please post detail like models of capture card, and sound card, software used etc .
