J dobbs ,

thanks for all the work you have done with the make it easy project that allows you to do full back ups ,however now the new version of dvd2one is out , do you now use ifoupdate in adj cell mode or will a new programme have to be written to accomodate this newer version .I have also tried make it easy from step 4 onward as the padding is not required , I only ask as I have tried a few dvd's with bad results ( spiderman R2 & 8 legged freaks R2 ) are the 2 I have done. the make it easy update says succefull but ifoedit comes up with an error , your answer is eagerly awaited

sorry ignore this thread as I have found the thread that answers my question

Those 2 program in the title is all you need.

Rip to hard drive.
Have DVD2one resize your main movie down to the right size so the menu and stuff can be added without going over 4.3G
Once that's one, run IFOUpdate and select original IFO from the rip. IE, if the main movie is vob2, select the ifo for that one. Author ifo should be the vob1 ifo file created by DVD2One. Run update and correct vtc. That's it, your complete backup of movie with menu.

That would work for single PGC movies. But there's more to it than that in many cases.

If the movie has more than one PGC, then use ifoedit to create new ifo files first. After that is finished use dvd2one shrink the size of the movie. If it's a vts set other than 1, then don't forget to change the new ifo file from ifoedit to match the title set before using dvd2one. After that just rename the vobs from dvd2one back to the original names, copy back to original folder and update the ifos using ifoupdate or makeiteasy (same thing). Reopen ifoedit hit get vts sectors, that's it.
