My source is a noisy DVD which i used TemporalSmoother(2) followed by Convolution3d Anime BQ preset and Lanczos resize to get decent quality, but now that the noise is gone i'm left with these jagged edges which i'm wondering if there's a way to get rid of. Here's a screenshot of what i'm dealing with, the effect is a lot more apparent when played fullscreen.

How did you take that screenshot? It looks kinda like the picture you'll get when you zoom in in AVSCompare, which is very far from how the picture will look fullscreen in a player.
Or does it relly looks as bad as that when you play it?

It's not zoomed in. It started as a 544w image which i trimmed down to fit the 200kb limit attachment size as a .bmp because it game me a more accurate picture than jpeg.

Heh... Sorry, turns out I had ACDSee set on "Fit image" so it zoomed it to fullscreen for me :)
Sorry, but I don't know what you could do about those edges.

You can't do nothing about it : it's because in the colorspace used by MPEG2 and MPEG4 ( YV12 ), the chroma resolution is half the one of the luma ( for example, if you have a picture of 544*320, the chroma for each frame will be stored in a 272 * 160 picture, each "pixel" of this picture coding the chroma information of 4 pixels in the original picture ). As the difference between blue and red is almost only due to the chroma difference, at the border of the two colors you have an effect of aliasing.
Now, somebody once told me that cnr2 blurred the chroma channel. You may want to try it, to see if the problem is less visible ( however, I never tried that ).
Edit : You seem not to know the PNG image format. It's a lossless format, open source, widely supported, which for example compresses your image by five.
