Hi everybody
I´v got a problem i´v been wolking with a long time. Im a newbee sow i hope you can help me.
I want to rip dvd to avi but the only codec i can get to choose is the cinepack codec.

I´v got Windows XP pro, and use DVDx and this works fine when i want too do a svcd or a vcd, but i vant to do a Avi (mpeg4/divx), can i only choose the cinepak codec, If Ill check in Windows under which codex I´v got installet i can se them all.
But the is no reference in the system files or in the registration database to the dll files which the divx codec uses.
I´v tested dvdtoavi program and her is the problem the same, ill can only choose the cinepak codec.

When ill read this post: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24305&highlight=DeXT
I tryed to put the dll files i the registry for the codec iv got, but that dosent work out.

Iv tryet this as well:

The DivX codec does not show up after installing
Sometime the problem can be fixed by using the up and down keys on your keyboard in the codec selection window. Another reason can be that FlaskMpeg only picks the first video codec line in your system.ini file. So start sysedit (run - sysedit) and edit the system.ini file which is usually located at c:\windows\system.ini, then locate the [driver32] section. Move the DivX codecs on top of the list:
[drivers32]
vidc.DIV3=DivXc32.dll
vidc.DIV4=DivXc32f.dll
msacm.divxa32=DivXa32.acm
vidc.DIV3 is the DivX Low motion and vidc.DIV4 is the DivX high motion codec. Reverse the order if you want DivX high motion.

But the driver32 section was emty, and it had no effect.

Please help ????
I sorry for the bad English, but im from Denmark, sow please forgiv me.
Thanks for a greast site.

this post is almost a year old and in my opinion it can be regarded as outdated!

ok i think this is where your problems start. low and fast motion are only seperate in divx 4 codec. you should know that at the moment the newest divx release is version 5.03 (!!) so you probably got a terribly outdated version. you can download the new codec under ww.divx.com . another option would be to choose the Xvid codec. it is similar to the divx codec but not commercialised. anyway this is your decision.

the second "mistake" you've made is that you've chosen FlaskMpeg to do the encoding for you. I would recommend you switch do GordianKnot right now. i cannot promise that it solves your problem, although it would be likely... there is a very comprehensive guide at the doom9.org homepage which will explain everything in great detail.
GordianKnot Guide (http://www.doom9.org/gknot-main3.htm)
It will seem confusing at first, but i can promise you that it is worth the time and the quality is way superior to the flask quality. also after a while it will seem easy to you aswell.

well no problem... this is an international forum so it is very coomon that english is not the native language. if you are much better at another language you could also check out the german (http://www.doom9.de/) or french (http://french.doom9.net/) doom9 mirror!!

i hope this clarified some things
