I was just wondering if anyone tought about making a xvid guide where the advance settings of this great encoder is explained!

I would really like to know for example who to use and calculate settings for Curve Compression and fine tune xvid for the second pass.

I know, you could say "read the threads and if you don't understand then we can not put what we have in our brains in yours"

But then again I had a little tought about xvid development in general that I posted last nigh! When hiting the submit botton I was wondering if it was not a suicidal move for someone who has just been a little accepted and help out in the forum!

Lucky me, it seems that no one saw the thread! :)
But after all I like xvid and the people involved and my comments (even if wrong) are with the best intensions.

So maybe it would not be a bad idea to get your attention on what i said: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46913
And see what you think!

hehe in worst case I will just unplug my pc after all :)

read the threads and if you don't understand then we can not put what we have in our brains in yours :D :D ;)

But seriously, just use linear scaling and have a much easier life!

If even Koepi uses it, it's definitely OK! And you don't have to get headaches thinking about curve compression anymore. Just hit 'load defaults' and don't change CC-settings from that point on.

Yupp, Tee is right: just forget about altCC. It's there because Foxer implemented it, and he gets nice results with it. But for everyone else i've just seen problems with it. So better use linear sclaing, that's the best you can do and what 2pass is about.

Best regards

@koepi
Could you please tell me where to find info about VHQ (values, meaning and so on)?

Thanks a lot

Marco,

use the search button.

Enter "VHQ", search the "XVID" forum, and you'll get 16 links.

The 16th link is called "VHQ Manual" by sysKin (who wrote the VHQ code).
Find it here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45746&highlight=VHQ).

Koepi's in a bad mood right now so... http://forum.doom9.org/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=830376&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending, check "VHQ manual" (you really should try the search button...)

Edit: Ok, maybe not in that bad a mood :)
