I'm curious as to which authoring program everyone in here uses. Please submit your vote and let us know the pros/cons/compatibility/ease of use/etc. you have experienced with it.
I have personally used DVD Maestro almost exclusively. It has a very friendly user interface, is intuitive and compiles DVDs that have yet to fail in anything I put them in. Functionality is a bit limited.

FYI... Adobe Premier is a non-linear video editor. It is not DVD authoring software. As for some of the others being valid or not, I'm unsure because I've never used them.

Hi All,
Again, seems I’m always on the outside looking in. I have been mostly using DVD Complete lately. I have other software re: Spruce and DVDit but since I seem to spend most of my time testing the quickly changing world of DVD software [DVD2one and Instant Copy lately] I do not do as many fully authored B/U as before. Like I said when the urge moves me I am using Dazzle DVD Complete, quick, fairly easily customized and cheap, did I mention cheap, you can't beat that combination.

How can you be on the outside looking in when you're running "dvd9to5.com"?? No offense but, in point of fact, what you're doing is not even a full DVD9 to DVD5 backup. I think it's rather misleading. Especially when you say "perfect DVD back ups" when the process you are promoting is not...content, quality, or otherwise.

well, if only the forum software would let me make multiple selections...
i chose maestro, just so it can get closer to scenarist, and annoy all the scenarist lovers :P
now, this is what i use:
Spruce DVDVirtuoso
Spruce DVDMaestro
Sonic ReelDVD (been playing around with this lately, and is quite powerful, but compiles wierdly).
i got a copy of MyDVD with my burner that i refuse to use tho ;)
oh, btw, its Adobe Premiere, and it doesnt do any authoring, iirc, a sonic app is bundled with 6.5 for DVD authoring ;)

In all fairness to Maestro users, I do THANKFULLY use Maestro for authoring my TiVo extractions. Fortunately, it is dumb enough not to care about the header changing I do to the vid clips. Without this inheirent flaw, I am not sure how I would go about putting my TiVo extractions on DVDR! Thanks Maestro! hehe :D Anyway, considering I use Scenarist for everything other than that, it's about a 70/30 Scenarist/Maestro split for me.

TRILIGHT,
I was just checking back on your poll and noticed your post.
Well it is nice to see you at least visited my site. I enjoy hearing all points of view; positive and well.... you get the Idea. I apologize you did not find any of the information posted on my site useful. I do not propose to make full 1:1 back-ups. I just try to help people very new to the process get started. It appears the 1:1 back up capabilities for the novice are close on the horizon now and this information will be mostly irrelevant.
My reasoning behind my site was I was very frustrated when I began to back up my DVD collection. There was very little useable information out there that would allow you to at least complete a project start to finish. I was disappointed by guides that would get you half way through a project and then you would find out a piece of software either cost thousands of dollars, or just as bad, no longer available.
I began this small attempt to help very new individuals make at least a working back up of their DVD collections and have a little fun doing so. The world is not a one size fits all and again I have no intentions to mislead anyone, I am only attempting to help in a small way, my way as stated on my site.
Respectfully,
Dd

Sorry. Didn't mean to be an ass. It's just that a lot of us spend time on IRC and here on the forum trying to help people understand what it takes to make a true DVD-9 to DVD-5 backup and it is time consuming to "de-program" them from all the misunderstandings they have about the process. Pulling a movie from a DVD-9 disc and making your own menu for it is not really what I myself or others would call a "DVD-9 to DVD-5" process. That's why I interpreted your site the way I did.
As for the link, I do not know what happened. I looked and somehow a change on the forum was causing it not to read the bold tag correctly. I've re-saved it and it now appears to be working again.
