View Full Version : IC 's analysis of quality when processing

I've noticed that if I load a DVD I have previously processed it does not analyze the disc again when I click OK to start processing as it just shows 'reading' as it's status and not 'analyzing'

you would think that after it analyzes the data in the 1st full 2 hour process that while it is processing this data it would add to the original quick analysis but this doesn't seem to happen

also users add roughly 0.3Gb for the 2nd run (if they don't the 1st time) if the 1st run falls short, and if it was unknown quality that was affecting the size then if it did save extra quality data from the 1st run the 2nd run would be nearer to 4.6Gb

after checking the log info after starting 2nd run, I see this

as you can see the Video Quality is still 0 when I have opened the file up after original processing, so it shows that IC is not adding to the disc data regarding quality

If I goto the discdata folder in IC program folder and take out the 2 data files, then start IC then it analyses the disc again after clicking OK as shown below in the log file info, and you can see it states it cannot load data for the disc

it's a shame it does not have this feature (or does it?, you are able to d/l data, but will you not be relying on getting the exact relevant disc data and also where has that data come from?

If it is from users then will they have made an exact copy of the original and processed it immediately without modifying any of the ripped files?
also look how many different versions of the some DVD's there are, collectors, special, directors etc :)

I dunno, my assumptions are probably all wrong but still made me wonder why it didn't do it in the 1st place

but for now all I will do is oversize originally and if it is over, try running the resulting extracted PDI file back through IC and see what happens as I have never done that as normally I reprocess the original again :)

this occurs because officially they claim to help you do a 1:1 backup (all titles, etc.). This is the reason the online transcoding database causes crash (just a guess). Thus best advised to delete your discadd.adi and discforgotwhatitwascalled.xxx

it maybe better to keep the disc.adi/disc.add files as they still store two bits of analysis data from DVD's you have already analysed even if they didn't complete the processing

the 1st part is when you 1st click Start and it get's the audio/filesize data from the ripped files (5-10secs)

the 2nd part is the video quality analysis data that it gets when you click OK after choosing titles and %'s (5-10mins)

If you delete the files it loses this stored data, so if you ever start a backup of this DVD again it will have analyse it again

or if it crashes but you cannot start it again immediately, say the next day at least it won't have to analyse the data again

just a suggestion

Well your talking about 10 to 20 mins of lost time per DVD. It's not worth the risk of having it crash. Actually you may be right if your redoing the dvd again....But your copy of the Matrix might be analyzed different than mine even though they're the same copy. Thus avoid using that online transcoding database.
