Hi everyone.
I experiencig some problems using Xvid.
I am not so advanced user in the issue so sorry if my question is too basic.
I have tested some codecs (divx5/xvid/sbc/wmv9/rv)and found that Xvid gives me the best overall quality. But i have problems with some cartoons and clips mostly capured from TV(with dvdrips all is ok)
The problem appears when the brightness of the picture rapidly change.[Like one scene has ended, than all is black, and other scene has started] In such moments the picture looks very very "blocky",like in fast motion moments in very old divx3(not sbc)rips. And this problem appears even if i use very large output file size, say 50mb for clip 3:30 with 480x360 - the vidoe looks very good (even maybe better than source thanks to ffdshow) but, still, in these brightnes change moments picture looks blocky.
I use the following settings: last Koepi stable build,2-pass,quality=6,sometimes lumi masking enabled, all other settings left by default (cos i don't understand them too much) Maybe someone could recommend me some other settings to my problem or any other solution? Thanks in advance for any replies.

sometimes lumi masking enabled
It could be an answer to your problem. But XviD behaves badly on fadings, which seem to be the situations where your blockiness occurs, so don't expect miracles ( yet, of course ).

just like divx 5, btw and any other recent mpeg4 codec out there.
