if I strip 2 streams of audio from the movie that has 4 how can I make sure that the audio will still work when selected in the audio menu

I have just used InstantCopy and have just stripped streams 2(Surround) & 3(French) from the Simpsons keeping stream 1(5.1) & 4(director's), but now the old stream 4 (director's comment) does not work when I select it in the menu as it is now stream 2 according to IC which was stereo, so I have to select stereo in the audio menu to get it ply via that( I know I could press audio button during playback)

is there any easy way I can get it to work again with the correct menu button by using ifoedit?

I had the same problem with Monsters Inc choosing the narrator's stream instead of 5.1 when it 1st played but I changed something in ifoedit to get 5.1 to play on default by chaging it to (0x80 I think)but can't remember what I did

cheers

found my answer here

Tips and Tricks menu @ http://dvdguides.trilight.net/ (great site:))

I now have the right audio playing when selected in the menu :D

again thanks to trilight for having info available

PROBLEM: After compiling and reintegrating, no audio is heard (or the wrong audio is heard) on certain selections.

SOLUTION: You need to change the stream numbers for that particular PGC in the IFO file. Open the IFO in IFO Edit. Expand the "VTS_PGCITI" in the top window and you will see your PGC's listed. If you select them, you will see stream information in the bottom window. You can change your audio stream status numbers to change what audio is played. The default settings change in increments of 256 and are as follows:

Audio Stream 1 Status: 32768
Audio Stream 2 Status: 33024
Audio Stream 3 Status: 33280
Audio Stream 4 Status: 33536
Audio Stream 5 Status: 33792
So my solution was to open the individual PGC's in the "VTS_PGCITI" and add 0 to Audio stream 2 and replace 33536 in Audio stream 4, then just simply save it

I then had to change the amount of soundtracks from 2 to 4 by clicking "VTSI_MAT" in top window then scrolling in bottom window looking for Number of audio streams in VTSTT_VOBS line and save again

Sorted :D

I would have no problems to apply this movie to DVD2DVDR, if it were not for the subtitle streams. It contains some elvish (won't say which movie it is). The second DVD can be stripped to fit with ifoedit, and it retains the smartness about which subtitle is to be shown along with which language. DVD2DVDR will reauther the DVD, and that destroys the smart handling of subtitles. I tried to find out how to do this manually, but could not get it done yet.
the same theory applies to subs also, open the original IFO and the authored IFO in different IFOedits and click "VTSI_MAT" in top window then look in bottom window at line Number of sub-picture streams in VTSTT_VOBS. Make a note of how many sub-picture streams there are in original and enter same amount into authoured

underneath the amount of streams you can see all the streams and what language they are, in the original IFO find which stream you kept and double click the SUb-p_01: Sub-picture stream[b] line and also same one in authored IFO. A window will open and select same in authored as original making a note of the ones you change but also the ones you deleleted

then click [b]"VTS_PGCITI" in top window of both IFO's, and then relevant PGC
from the numbers you wrote down in 1st step for streams kept goto the Sub-picture stream status for that no. in both IFO's and enter the amount from the same Sub-picture stream number if it's different, the other 4 no's willl change when u click another choice in the top window of ifoedit. If the authored contains a no. but you deleted it from the original then just enter 0 to delete it as you don't need it

It's best to click the top window of the authored after each one to check it's correct and click [b]"VTS_PGCITI" again to do the next stream

after finishing both the original and authored IFO should have the same values in the streams you kept so click SAVE

sorted :D

thanks, I will give it a try. (totally OT here)
I just put a question to this problem into the ifoedit section. It belongs there really. Tomorrow, I'll know how it goes...will update there
