My buddy has Philips LX7000SA combo, which automatically detect whether stereo audio is in dolby surround compatible mode or not.
Originally encoded tracks activate DPL processor, but tracks encoded from AC3 (BeSweet, HeadAC3he, GraphEdit) don't. I don't know how to activate DPL processor manually. How prepare dolby surround compatible audio, which will be automatically detect by this equipment?

It is much more likely that what the DVD player is doing is an automatic downmix for you. If the audio is Dolby Digital (I.E. AC3 5.1) then it is downmixing to Dolby Surround, which by the way is not DPL2. This will be happening if you don't use a digital output (Coax or optical)

Then your receiver is seeing a Dolby Surround downmix and selecting its DPL2 processing filter. Remember that DPL2 is a DECODING filter. All we are doing when we say we are encoding to DPL2 is that we are "Tweaking" the stereo file so that the DPL2 decoder can more accuratly recreate the surround channels.

You can run a plain stereo, non DPL2 optimized, audio stream through a DPL2 filter and it will do a pretty good job of recreating the surround effects.

I would grab the manual for the receiver and find out how to manually select the ProLogic II filter. I have never heard of any receiver that you cannot manually select the filters on.

I've read the manual and I cannot find how to manually activate DPL filter.
