While previewing the vobs that I'm trying to encode, I see in FRAME TYPE that my video is changing between progressive and interlaced at a very rapid rate. It took me a while to figure out what it's actually saying. The guides on this site doesn't mention what I should do in this situation. Can someone explain to be what's going on and what I should do?
Vob Info:
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Frame Rate: 29.970
Video Type: NTSC
Frame Type: progressive/interlaced
I'm a complete noob at this, if you can, please try to be more descriptive in your response, thx a lot.

Well, you should be able to follow the basics of this guide. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34718) I.e. create a .d2v project, check the file with this AviSynth script:LoadPlugin("mpeg2dec.dll") #add paths to these three lines
LoadPlugin("decomb.dll")
Mpeg2source("DVD.d2v")
telecide(post=false)If there remains interlacing then you need a deinterlacer. If there are doubled frames then you can run the usual IVTC in GKnot. Or, you get both scenarios, but in different places of the video. Tough luck, because those are very hard to handle in AVI's. Check neuron2's challenge in the AviSynth forum.

Hi-
If you're running the Preview from the beginning, then you're seeing the pre-movie stuff, and you might not be getting an accurate picture of what the film itself is doing. You can use the slider and the "[" button to start somewhere in the middle and get a truer picture.
However, the Frame Type you describe usually means that it shouldn't be Force Filmed, but use No Field Operation instead and then IVTC in the .avs you set up in GKnot. For more information, please read this:

Edit: Oops-too late. :)
