i can't watch avis anymore, everything else, though?!?

all of a sudden i can't watch avis anymore! both zoom player and windows media player start up and consume all processing-power for ever without playing the movie. this only happens with avis.

i changed from using ffdshow to xvid decoder, same result..

now this looks like a stubburn case in wich i might have to reinstall my entire system. i did that a few weeks ago´, so i want to avoid that!

Use graphedit to render the media to make sure you know exactly what directshow filters are being used when playing your AVI files. See if theres anything strange there that wasn't there before, and unregister the filters until things are working again.... :)

well, i am not familiar with grapedit, but its output looks ok to me. here it is:

[MOVIE]->[AVI SPLITTER]->[DECODER(FFDSHOW)]->[AVI DECOMPRESSOR]->
->[COLOR SPACE CONVERTER]->[VIDEO RENDERER]

strangely it works when i remove the ffdshow-filter from the chain..
