I used Gordian Knot to back up a movie using DivX5 and had it set at 2 cd's, and when I got through, I tried to cut it with VirtualDub. But when I opened the movie it said that it had a vbr error with the audio.. I was wondering what I would do to fix this.. I tried to save the wav file and add it back in, but the wav file was nothing but static.. If I watch the movie it plays the audio fine.. I cut the movie thinking it wouldn't be that bad and the audio on the second part is almost 30 seconds off.. I am new to posting and looked for a answer, but did not see it. I also didn't know since this is a kind of Gordian Knot and VirtualDub question which to put it in.. Please let me know if I screwed up some how.. Thanks.. Melocco.........

In my opinion, the error you are receiving in Virtual Dub, is because it cannot handle Vbr mp3(those that gordian knot produces) To be able to open correctly such files, you should you Virtual Dub Mod (when opening file, choose Nandub vbr compatibility) or Nandub, And then cut your file where you want. If source was synchronized, the output should be fine than too.
Anybody correct me if i wrong or if there is another solution to this.

OK.. I just got Nandub and opened the movie.. There is a error on it that says the following..

Couldn't Locate Decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)

VirtualDub requiers a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video.
DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Medis Player, are not suitable

[OK]

[OK]= the OK button.. No other buttons were there..

Now I have the Nandub from here at Doom9 and Not really understanding why it says that Virtualdub requiers.. Do I need to install Nandub in the Virtualdub root folder?? Thanks for all the help.. Mel..

It seems the you missing divx5 codec (you have only filter, that you can view files) Try downloading it from doom9 download page or go to www.divx.com.

I have the full version of DivX 5.02 that I paid for.. I also have used DivX 5.02 when I used Gordian Knot to compress the files from DVD to DivX.. Plus I can open all my other files that are in DivX format that I compressed with FlaskMpeg.. Gordian Knot makes the video look alittle better then FlaskMpeg, but I just don't know about cutting the movie... Do I need to reinstall DivX 5? But wait.. I have a question.. If I can open the movie in VirtualDub and the video look fine and the audio is messed up, then I try opening the movie with Nandub or VirtualDub Mod and the video will not open, Something else is wrong right?? I'm at a loss for words.. Not sure what to try next.. Should I reinstall DivX 5 since I have downloaded Nandub? Should I try to find a different version of the programs? Should I download DivX 5.03 (which if I have read the Forum right will mess up Gordian Knot)? Thanks... Mel...

Did I get you right, it works in VDub, but not in VDubMod & NanDub. Thats really strange. What you could try (dunno if it really works), is popping up the extended options on opening and forcing the fourcc to something diffrent, e.g. xvid. But if you have Divx5 installed it should be ok

Nope.. Didn't work (I really didn't want to convert it to XviD anyway really.. All there movies I have seen are all screwed up.. The picture and all was messed up... But Trying to force it didn't work.. I am going to try a few more things and if I find anything that works I'll post it..

I still think it is strange that anything that I compressed with FlaskMpeg opens fine and This doesn't (I know about the audio but I would think that who ever made Gordian Knot work have it work right for later editing.).. But in VirtualDub when I use Gordian Knot the video works fine.. Oh well.. I guess I just need to be happy right?? LOL:)

Let me go try a few other things and see what happens.. Wish me Luck, and if you or any one else can think of something for me to try, let me know.. Thanks... Mel...
