hi after encoding a divx file into an svcd, when i tried playing the svcd video it shows a black screen with red words displaying
"Avisource: Could not decompress frame 0". all i hear is the audio and no picture. i was wondering what the problem could be and how i can go about fixing this. im using the lastest version of dvd2svcd, i tried both 2.50 of cce and tmpg encoders. i also noticed that the svcd file size is only 130mb, this is weird because the divx video is 90 mins long and about 696mb big. i am able to watch the divx video fine but having problems encoding it into a svcd. here is the log. could not find any topics in the search.

For a test try again with this slightly edited avs file text.

LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\MPEG2DEC\MPEG2DEC.DLL")
AVISource("C:\DOWNLO~1\FTP\HERODV~1.XVI\SPH-HERO.AVI",False)
ConvertToYUY2()
BicubicResize(480,300,0.0,0.6)
AddBorders(0,138,0,138)
ResampleAudio(44100)

If the above works it's something to do with the subs. If it doesn't it maybe an AVI issue. See if it will load and work in Vdub.

well i even try encoding the video without the subs and its still the same thing. i also noticed that when i open the divx video in virtualdub and try to play it, it saids
"Error decompressing frame 0, An unknown error occur(may be corrupt data) (error code-100)"
this might explain why it was not able to encode the video successfully into an svcd but the thing is its able to play the divx video fine in media player. i don't notice any error while watching the DIVX video in mplayer but i really would like the video in svcd format.

If you are getting an error in Vdub then it's most definately not an issue with DVD2SVCD. The problem is either your codec or the Avi itself.
Do you have Divx 5.03 installed? There is a known issue that anything created with 5.03 needs 5.03 to play and 5.02 or before will not play it.

At this point I would say to take this to the Divx forum as this is defintely not a DVD2SVCD issue.

You most likely have a corrupted frame in your divx file. Try to use virtual dub or one of the avi "defreezers" here on doom9 to fix the divx file. If you need more help, like Mark said, try to visit the Divx or VirtualDub forums, they can surely help.

I've had this exact problem. I't s a corrupt frame in the avi.

Virtual dub can be used to eliminate the bad frame but there is often an accompanying glitch in the audio and the audio conversion then stops at the dud part. If so you may have to extract the audio with vdub and convert it manually. BeSweet GUI available from doom9.org is very useful.

What I did for the file I had was load it into vdub, save the audio as a wav, fix the corrupt frame and resave the video as a direct stream copy.

Then launch dvd2svcd and convert the vdub output avi. As soon as it gets to video conversion and launches cce, use the Besweet GUI to do the settings to encode the audio manually without error protection. I shall go into no more detail as I am certain a Google search for avi to svcd will find you a guide.

Then before muxing starts, rename this file "Encoded_Audio_1.mp2" and cut & paste it into your dvd2svcd output folder, replacing the dud one. BBmpeg will now use this file for muxing and all *should* work fine!

It did for me anyway...

And I did still use DVD2SVCD so this post isn't entirely irrelevant to this forum, although the link is getting a bit tenuous!
