View Full Version : Instant Copy and IFOEdit

I just noticed something. I ripped a movie with DVD Decryptor. I previewed it with PowerDVD and it showed a "warning" page at the beginning I didn't want in the final. I tried VOBRator but it bombs. So I used the preview in IFOEdit which worked. Found the title set I no longer wanted, clicked "Delete Playback" on it (in VIDEO_TS.IFO). Now PowerDVD plays it without that beginning warning page like I want. But now IC doesn't like it.. I had to copy that .IFO back off the DVD before IC would process it. Is there any way around this? It would seem to me that deleting something like this before transcoding would save that small amount of space. I can remove it with IFOEdit after IC transcodes it, but... Does something like "Get VTS sectors" or anything else like that need to be ran on an IFOEdited .IFO file like this so IC won't barf on them? Yes I saved over the .BUP as well.

Thanks.

find out which VOB ID the warning has and use the MENU or VOB EXTRAS button and remove it by stripping VOB ID's

then just copy the resulting files back over the original 2 IFO/BUP's and VOB file (best to make backups 1st just in case it goes wrong )

I had exactly the same problem using the delete playback button, but using the EXTRAS buton and stripping VOB ID worked just fineas I wanted rid of the logos/trailers etc and want to go straight to menu

or you can just delete it after is you extract the PDI files then use delete playback after

p.s. If you are using XP with Vobrator try right clicking the vobrator.exe file then choose Properties and then goto compatiablity and tick 256 colours and choose run in Win98/ME mode then it won't bomb during playback (playback works just great after that)

hope it helps :)

I've got the same problem. InstantCopy won't accept my IfoEdited DVD. But I cannot go around the problem so easily, because I used IfoEdit to merge 2 DVDs together using the elementary streams of the two DVDs (LOTR SEE with IfoEdit 0.96b1).

Does anyone know what Instantcopy dislikes about the ifos and maybe how to change them to an acceptable state?

Does the IFOEdit'd to IC method work without merging DVD's together.

PS: Is the below correct on how I understand the IFOEdit method you talked about.

1. RIPP DVD to hard disk.
2. IFOEdit out all the extra crap (Extra's, sound etc etc), you end up with an oversized compliant DVD set of files.
2. Open the VIDEO_TS.IFO with IC and re-encode to desired size.

Thx, in advance.

yes :), but do not use delete playback

you are ripping wrong, use filemode and select all files, then carefully use the VOB extras button to remove unwanted VOB ID's but be warned only delete the ones you know are extras & warnings as some contain just a blank screen and are needed for DVD structure to be maintained

Cheers for the reply,

1. Do not use delete playback, how do you mean?
2. Filemode it is, duh, should have known that. :D
3. VOB ID's, can I use IC to check which VOB ID's to keep.

Thx, in advance.
