View Full Version : Using IFOEdit on PDIxtracted files?

After converting the PDI file with pdixtract, I have read that I should run the files through IFOEdit and "Get VTS Sectors". These intructions seemed a little vague.
Why do it?
How to do it?
So, after lots of searching and reading, my best guess is the this....

1) Load IFO Edit then click on Open Ifo.
2) I get a list of IFO's. There is the VIDEO_TS.ifo then VTS_01.0.ifo VTS_02.0.ifo etc etc.
Which IFO to open in IFOedit ??
3) Then I click on Get VTS Sectors button in the lower half of the screen. It asks me to process all files? So I click Yes. Then it auto re-saves the files.
4) So I presume that is all I have to do. Now I just click Close Ifoedit, or should I click on Save first, and if so, what do I save.

This is still very vague to me, so any hints or tips greatly appreciated.
Am I using IFOEdit correctly, and do I need to do anything else to the files before burning?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Tiffany,

your usage of IFOedit is absolutely correct. You can choose any IFO in this directory, the answer "Yes" to process all will automatically load all other IFOs. And the files are saved automatically after "Get VTS Sectors" so there is no need for an explicit save (but it shouldn't harm either).

But normaly, it is not neccessary to run IFOedit at all. The only addresses IFOedit changes in all my tests are the addresses of missing VTS sets. But these sets are removed from the program chain and could not be played anyhow.

If IFOedit actualy changes something during "Get VTS Sectors" it pops up with a dialog window showing the changes. So you can see yourself if something happened.
