VHS (analog and others) to HD ??

I have some home movies on 8mm tape and also on VHS I would like to put onto my computer and then burn to DVD. I have a lot of necessary codecs, programs etc. Currently I have and can burn DVD9 movies by decrypting to HD, transcoding Transcode link (http://www.dvd2one.com) and then burn onto 1 DVD. I also have some programs from Nero for doing home movies from AVI.

What sort of hardware is recommended for doing the analog to digital thing into my computer for editing?

Home built Athlon XP 2000+ (overclocked) 512 MB ram, 80GB 133 ATA hard drive, Pioneer DVR-105 4X DVD burner, Toshiba DVD drive, Yamaha CD burner, USB satellite network and home network set up, 64MB Abit Siluro (nvidia) AGP video card, some free space on my computer for PCI cards. *S*

A TV card would come in useful as would a second hard drive.
Other than that you system is well up to it.

I've got 1- CD burner, 1- DVD ROM reader, 1- DVD Burner, and an 80GB Maxtor ATA 133 Hard drive on my EIDE ports.. no room for another HD.. besides I have my Hard drive partitioned. Major one is "C" and it has 48 GB free space.

I think I will need something more than a TV card.?

I found a guy that has a Win TV pci card with CD etc.. is this something that might work? PCI card has a device on it with: NTSC 61001 Rev.

I actually in the same boat you are... and if I were you I'd seriously consider purchasing an ATI All in Wonder card. Check out the ATI website http://www.atitech.com to see which one might be right for you, but the best bang for the buck right now is probably the 8500DV 64mb AGP card (~US$160 on Pricewatch). If you want the 128MB version the price jumps to ~US$250. The website describes all the features (of which there are many).
