View Full Version : instacopy audio_ts folder

people have said that instacopy does not produce 100% compatible dvds cause it doesn't include the audio_ts folder. Did anyone try and put a checkmark beside audio_ts?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing an option for Audio_TS nor a checkbox.

Hmm I attached the pic guess it didn't work, sent it to your email. I am ripping from dvd decrypter to iso and mounting it with deamon tools. My guess it there has to be an audio_ts dir on the dvd itself but that's just a guess cause it includes all the other folders on the dvd.

I nominate spike as genius of decade..err hmmm the day if this works.
I'm ripping in ISO mode now ...then left to test mounting it in daemon tools to see if audio_ts is there.....
gotta go fix network problems be back in few hours

It won't show up in file mode. You have to rip it to ISO mode.
Would this fix the "no label" problem as well?
Currently, I don't let IC burn but instead write to harddrive. I then extract it with pdiXtract, test it & then burn it with a label & audio_ts folder using Nero.

Ok I did it....it works as advertised it does keep the AUDIO_TS folder. I did pdi2iso and mounted the .iso with daemon tools and voila AUDIO_TS is there. Remember to rip in ISO mode not File mode.
Missing AUDIO_TS isn't a bug its people like me who said to rip in FILE mode (from dvd2one)..crap. This does not keep the volume label though. That really isn't a bug at all at least to me.
I'm totally gonna redo my guide tonight with update screen shots, etc. and basically tell people to only rip in ISO mode and they must have a win2000 or winXP with an NTSF partition.
Oh yeah...thanks Spike for figuring this out.

obviously...the only difference between the .iso mounted on your hd and your dvd is that it's decrypted and macrovision, region, etc. removed. The structure is the same.
If your dvd player requires the AUDIO_TS (more don't require AUDIO_TS than do) then use PDIxtract by schlaufer and manually add it.

Well i already used the rip to iso methode in dvddecrypter but the AUDIO_TS folder wont show up.Tried like 8 DVD iso`s now with the AUDIO_TS folder on it.
My player dont need the folder but i would like to have it there in case i have to replace it with another player.

Out of all 8 of those dvds did any of them have AUDIO_TS folder in the first place?

Unfortunately when I try to install Daemon tools on my XP pro machine it just resets the computer at the end of the install - then when I reboot I get msg that Windows has recovered from a serious error.
I then try to keep re-installing it and I got windows to reboot and after I login - it resets... grrr!
Then I reboot again and all is well... but Dameon tools does not run correctly everytime I boot windows (ie. no icon in tooltray).
I ended up uninstalling Daemon Tools and doing a system restore to clean up any remnants of failed install.
Anyone else have this problem?
As far as AUDIO_TS goes, many of the commercial DVDs I have looked at do not have it. The only reason for me to use IC from an ISO is to retain any extras like DVDROM features (which I don't care about so there really is no point).

Oh ya, one more point:
You would think that Pinnacle IC would be able to just read a standard ISO instead of one having to mount it in Daemon tools !
Would be nice if it had option to use standard ISO formats along with its goofy PDI format.

Yes the ones i tested all had AUDIO_TS on the original dvd with some other stuff (pc stuff)

I've noticed this too, that some DVD's have the AUDIO_TS folder and some don't. So if it's there, IC will let you keep it. Otherwise, if the original didn't have it then the copy isn't getting it. ;)

FYI: I've seen a lot of original DVDs that don't have an AUDIO_TS folder, they only have a VIDEO_TS folder. I'm not quite sure if not having that folder will cause compatibility problems. If it did, wouldn't you think that the producers of the original DVD would've added it in?

Well a bunch of people made a huge fuss about IC is crap and all cuz it was dvd compliant. So I thought it was a big deal.....perhaps it isn't after all.
I wish we could get a list of dvd players that didn't play dvds without AUDIO_TS cuz if it's less than 1%..then this whole thing is a joke.

Just a wild guess but maybe there are more PAL players than NTSC which require a VIDEO_TS directory ? Or vice-versa? There are some differences in the specs where PAL has support for MPEG audio streams whereas it is not official in NTSC players.
