Hi everyone!
Sometimes i re-encode some movies in order to put them to less amount of cd's of just edit them. The ones that have vbr mp3 are causing the following problem. First, I'm using VDMod and open such files with "Enable Nandub Vbr Mp3 compatibility", then set audio to full processing mode, and set some compression ,say mp3 128kbps,stereo.
In the output file, video part is OK, but "almost" no audio!?
When i do "file information" to output file, i see that audio part takes only 1200kb, or even less and by the file size i can see too that there is no audio. All other audio settings like conversion and interleiving are left by default. Does anybody know what could be the problem?? Meanwhile the only solution i found- decompress all audio using lame and compress it again - that works with the same VDMod.
Thanks in advance for you replies.

Hi

the Compatibility mode was meant to be used when only editing (without recompressing audio) your clip. I am not sure how VDub would behave (i.e. if it would work or not) when using this mode and recompressing the audio, since anyway AVI isn't a good container for audio VBR (and VDub wasn't made to handle VBR audio out of the box, since it is meant to work on AVI).
As told in the message VDub give you (and that was your solution to fix this ;)) in this case it is better to extract the audio out of VDub and recompress it from there :)

In fact what happens if you open them not in Nandub compatibilyty mode?

If i open the file without this Nandub compatibility mode,i see this warning abut "improper vbr" and in video frame rate i have something like 9634.45.

Old thread I know...

Does the most recent version of VirtualDubMod (1.5.10.1) still have "Nandub compatibility mode"? I can't seem to find that option anywhere. I found a post stating that it was an option located in the bottom left-hand corner of the open file dialog box, but all I see there is "ask for extended options after this dialog", "automatically load linked segments", and "use AviSynth template".

If not, what is the most recent version of VDubMod that has it? In the extended options dialog there is nothing about "Nandub", but there is a "Open in AVIfile compatibility mode" (?) option. Selecting this option does eliminate the VBR warning when opening AVI's with VBR audio; is this the same thing as "Nandub compatibility mode"?
