Is there any way to get rid of it? Changing it in a template to 0 doesn’t seem to do anything.

after you change it in the template, you have to 'replace' the old one, then each file you import after you change the template will have the new settings

or you can manually change it for each file ;)

Not entirely on topic, but I haven't found this answer anywhere else. CCE manual says that you should not use 00:00:00:00 as timecode since it has a special meaning... but what that meaning it is is not explained.

The Making the best ouf of CCE guide says to use timecode 00:00:00:00 otherwise you might have problems importing the encoded output into your authoring software. Which software is it and what kind of problems? I've been succesful in using the default timecode value and importing to Scenarist. In fact, in another guide written by Trilight the recommended setting is 01:00:00:00.

A my friend had a problem with timecode 01:00:00:00 in DVDMaestro, with chapter or subtitle (i don't remember).
With setting 00:00:00:00, no problem.
