"AVISYNTH: Caught an access violation at 0x02fdb8c4 attempting to write to 0x03020020"
Hi,
Can anyone help me with this one?
I got this message when watching the movie I encoded to SVCD with DVD2SVCD 1.1.1b2 and 1.1.2b1.
The image gets all black with this message, but the sound remains ok and playing. I tried to change the movie bitrate, the sound bitrate, the BicubicResize c_value, mas in the end I always get that message.
It's in the last 10 minutes of the movie. And the movie it's 'The Mummy'
Thanks

You're just *playing* an SVCD???
Is there maybe a DirectShow playback filter invoking Avisynth somehow?

Actually I think the dreadful Nimo-pack does this - don't know - I just saw it somewhere.
If you're not using a standard AviSynth installation, you're better off getting support from the developers of the specific package (DVD2SVCD or whatever).

Lads,
I think that he means that the video shows only the access violation error message. The answer is simply that something caused an access violation during encoding.
@jbaptista: You're better off asking for support in the DVD2SVCD Basics forum. The people that use DVD2SVCD regularly hang out there so you should get better (and more) answers. Don't forget to post your logfile, you'll be asked to if you don't post it. You probably have a bad filter selection or something like that, and this has crashed the program you use for encoding.

Try a search. This has been discussed before.
Something is wrong with your AVS script.
Play the avs in media player and see if you see it there.
Did you edit the ini or the avs file?
Post your log and the avs file text using cut and paste after you have done a search and see if any of that helps you.

Here is my avs....
LoadPlugin("D:\DVD2SVCD\MPEG2Dec\mpeg2dec.dll")
LoadPlugin("D:\DVD2SVCD\AVISYN~1.DLL")
mpeg2source("D:\Mumia2\DVD2AV~1.D2V")
BicubicResize(480,576,0.0,0.75)
AvisynthSubtitler("D:\Mumia2\Subs\","permsubs.txt")
...and the the log file is attached
I've played the avs in media player and I got the same error
I haven't edited the files, they were generated by DVD2SVCD
I've searched for other posts and I've noted that all that have this kind of error refer to the reading while in my case it says writing
others:
"AVISYNTH: Caught an access violation at 0x02fdb8c4 attempting to read from 0x03020020"
mine:
"AVISYNTH: Caught an access violation at 0x02fdb8c4 attempting to write to 0x03020020"

Don't attach log files use cut and paste.
Remove that last line and see if it plays in media player.
If that doesn't work you might want to get a memory testing program like memtest86 or goldmemory to see if there is a hardware problem.
Also create this as a text file and name it version.avs
LoadPlugin("D:\DVD2SVCD\MPEG2Dec\mpeg2dec.dll")
Version
See if that works and what it says.

Probably because you have enabled Permanent Subtitle ripping, but not selected any (or there was no) subtitles on the DVD. Go to the subtitle tab and Deselect Subtitle.

@markrb: I don't know if i explained it right, lets say 90% of the movie it's ok, i only get this message in the last 5-10 minutes.
The curious thing, is that the first time i ran the avs in media player (after reading your post) it worked ok, all of it, but then i made some forward and rewinds and it stoped working again.
the version.avs shows this:
Avisynth 2.07 (avisynth.org) 22 NOV 2002
@2000-2002 Ben Rudiak-Gould, et al.
http://www.avisynth.org
@dvd2svcd: There are subtitles, in the movie\subs directory he has all the bmp subtitles. I use the dvd2svcd suite (i only change the bitrate from movie to movie) the rest i leave the defaults, and i've converted more than 10 movie's and it always worked ok, only with this one gave me problems.

Hello everybody!!
After 2 weeks triing to encode this movie, I finaly got it. :D
The solution was to change from the mpeg2dec.dll to mpeg2dec2.dll,
no other change needed.
Thanks for all your help.

I have the same access violation on my of the movies I'm encoding from DVD to XviD (koepi's 17022003-1 build). Here's the script I used in avisynth 2.5 for vdubmod
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\mpeg2dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\decomb.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\Convolution3DYV12.dll")
mpeg2source("D:\FREEWAY2_SCN\Movie.d2v")
Telecide().Decimate(5)
crop(10,0,704,478)
LanczosResize(512,384)
Convolution3D (0, 3, 4, 3, 4, 2.8, 0)
I ripped extras (Deleted scenes, Trailer and Behind the Scenes) along with the movie with DVD Decrypter with no errors at all. Used basically the same script but different source for each part, got the same error about 1000 frames into the encode. I used the same script with a different DVD and it worked just great. I then tried switching back to avisynth 2.0 and same access violation error on all 4 d2v I had of that DVD. I then tried copying the DVD with DVD Decrypter and I got a access violation at 99% in the burn, ISO created fine. I tried burning the ISO with Nero, burned with no errors, but all I got was the 12 seconds of the copyright screen, didnt even get a menu. Could this be very good copy-protection that hasnt been cracked yet or just another error that no program can work around? Any help would be appreciated.
BTW its an older movie, but the DVD is in near perfect shape and a below average master from a company I've never heard of Amazing Fantasy.
