alright, i thought i had a vcdhelp account, but apparently i dont.. so now i have to wait for my account to be activated/enabled.
anyway.. i know people in this realm (or maybe its just me) think very fondly of both doom9 and vcdhelp..
point is.. i am wondering what people think about which media to use.. which burning software to use.. and any other pertinant information..
right now, here is what im looking at:
i have what i believe to be Ritek G03's (i say believe since i have read some posts on vcdhelp where meritline.com sent out supposed ritek dvd-r and they arrived as princo or something..).. i dont know of a way right off hand to check if it is indeed ritek.. the box sats ritek on it, but no matter how much i prod, the disks wont talk..
so, lets assume 1x ritek G03 (silver on top, purple on bottom).
on to the burning prog...
i was a very fond and seasoned user of nero. i have read some things here and on vcdhelp suggesting that nero doesnt always do the best burn for compatibiliys sake.. so, i have been using a new-to-me prog called padus discjuggler. i have also read numerous things about buring it to iso, and then burning that iso to disk, which i havent tried.. i just want to see what the "tried and true (to you)" method is..
i am prompted to inquire because i have noticed in about all of my ritek burns.. somewhere in the playback, there is a skip.. stall.. pseudo-freeze.. sometimes i can fastforward and break it and back up a little to not miss too much of the film.. but this is becoming more and more unacceptable. thinking it might be the media, i burnt "The Perfect Storm" on to a Pioneer 1-2x DVD-RW. it completely froze about 3/4 of the way through it.. now, is this skip/freeze/whatever a product of the media.. burning software.. burning method.. anyone have some insight??
for the nitty-gritty.. i have a pioneer A05 4x dvd-r(w) writer.. and i have a sony dvr-ns300 standalone dvd player. also, i just upgraded my A05 firmware to the new version released by Pioneer (1.20) and i have yet to burn something... however, i did notice, after the upgrade, when i open nero.. i can no longer select a burn speed.. the dropdown is blank.. i wish i had something to burn just for a test, but i wont until tomorrow probably..
so, all that said.. who has the best media/software/method to burning a dvdr disc.. (notice: method in this context is only meant in physically getting the files to the dvdr from source).
