how to manually toggle keyframes in div5.2 through gknot?

hi guys,

when i use div3.11 it lets u create an ecf file (for splitting purposes) u used to b able to at least open up the statistics and manually toggle your keyframes and then save a new .stat and .ecf. However since using div5.2 it doesn't seem to deal with .ecf files or .stat files instead using i presume the .log files for statistics. I can't open the .log files in gknot to toggle keyframes so i was wondering how do i specify specific keyframes to be encoded.

I'm trying to split my stream into 4 episodes.

There was a tool called MorphiX floating around, and it might still be in the downloads section. I'm not sure how well it worked, as no one talks about it anymore. DivX5 doesn't have this built-in, but if you have the 'max keyframe interval' and 'scene change threshold' setup correctly, it should create a keyframe at major scene changes (i.e. the start of a new episode). If this doesn't work out, maybe try XviD. It's very similar to DivX3.11 in terms of controlability (is that a word??)

Or also, why not encode them separatly? Create each with it's own avs (or create one large avs, and set the encoding area in VDub) and encode them that way. That actually makes more sense now that I typed the rest of the response.

yea i'll prob just do the whole encode cos it should set the keyframe after the ep neway. The thing with editing the .avs to say trim "" is wouldn't it give me like an oversized cd. Also if i do that then the bitrates won't b spread out as efficient as in just 1 encode ; because your doing seperate encodes for every episode and the encoder doesn't get to c the whole picture and distribute more bits to a more complicated part.
