Multiangle DVD's and IC?

Has anyone done a multiangle DVD? I'm starting to think that is the root of my problems with InstantCopy.

I am trying to do Sarah McLachlan's Mirrorball and have issues around chapters 15-19 with skips and incorrect chapter sequences. The problems start at the first multiangle song(video).

This was a DVD I could never get to work with any CCE method or even the crappy ReMPEG2, so I consider it my best test case. At least with IC, it works most of the time. DVD2One doesn't even qualify since it removes 3 of the 4 angles.

Made "Matrix" and "Shrek" without any problems (for my tests).
So it should be no multiangle problem.

Maybe it is really dvd specific ...

I tried to backup the R2 Japan Scream Director's cut. This DVD has branching that alternates between the theatrical and director's cut.

Unfortunately, there is no audio on the 2nd title (Theatircal cut). The branching for the video works, but not having audio is an issue.

I finally got it working perfectly! It was my stupid fault.

I was filtering each of my IC creations through Ifoedit before burning (a VOB Extras step) to get rid of the layer break. Well, that was breaking it. I left the layer break in, reburned it, and all is well.

In other words, Ifoedit messed up InstantCopy's result.

Weird.

ok what is your secret mb1 i just did the matrix and it has repeating scenes doesn't seem to be angle related i don't think one example is at 1:46:08 where neo yells trinity it goes back to where trinity throws the knife at the guys head and continues to where neo yells trinity again and then skips to where trinity shoots the guy in the head. i didn't filter anything i ripped the movie in filemode loaded the video_ts ifo in instacopy and kept everything outputting to an image. watching it in powerdvd original is fine the copy is not. don't know what's going on
any help would be greatly appreciated

I've been wondering about the multiangle/IC relationship, too. I've been hacking around a bit with ifoedit and ifoupdate on a few of these multiangle compositions and find even these great tools have to be finessed to get things working. I wonder if IC has a hard time with these encounters and ends up bagging out -- hence, some of the crashes that we are witnessing and the chapter anomalies that you've encountered.

When JDobbs responds to a couple of messages that are waiting in the wings, it may help to sort things out. I hate to put the yoke around his neck, but he does do a great job of clarifying these issues!

well i've never experienced any crashes with any films multiangle or seamless branching films the output just has probs duing playback i am still waiting for the people who have stated they backed up the matrix perfectly to come forward. i know many people just scan through the movie quickly but with these probs you have to actually watch the movie to see if there is a problem

Matrix in about #5 on my list but I may just try it next to see what all the fuss is about :scared:
