Thanks for sharing your new software! I'm sure there are many thankful people! Keep us posted on the updates.
Hey, I like the estimated file size option! Nice!
One thing to pass along, it doesn't look like the cancel button works on it when it's processing something. That, or it just takes a long to. I ended program after a minute.
Very nice software! Can't wait until the menus get added in a later release.

First a Thank you for the app. I tried it out and the first thing I noticed that it didn't seem to add up the Menu's/(vts_xx_0.vobs) also the small .ifo's and .bup's. On some DVD the Menu's can be HUGE, check out LOTR's its over 600mb's. Please add another Total to your output .TXT file to include all the rest of the files on the DVD.

Now, on a off Note: I see the potential of your program to be awsum. Your app could be "The App to rule them all" You are the only one who is analizing the actual bytes of the streams and overing a analisis. You are starting to offer 'inteligents' to backing up a DVD. Hear me out on this.... You could have another 'tab' on you app that the user fills in with some choices, such as:
1. If DVD less than 4.3.....Burn .iso
2. If DVD with streams ripped less than 4.3...Burn .iso
3. if DVD a bit over 4.3 ...run DVD2one/IFOupdate
4. if DVD greater than 4.3 run DoItFast4u/DoCCE

I hope you see what I am getting at, your app can provide the solution for total DVD automated backup with preset variables, this has a HUGE future. Tahnk you for your work.

Last note, please, please, changing the message that says "DVD too big" / "DVD will fit" to a message in a messagebox or include a ICON that turns red/green. When trying to 'hook' your message handle its a pain since it blends into the background. You see I am trying to automate your app and its not really CLI supported, so I am basing my automation on the message you provide. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for your time.

@VidHack

Thanks for using DVDToolbox !

The first huge goal of the toolbox is a free and
100% working DVDXCopy.

But DVDToolbox is a box of tools by design :D

So the "FrontEnd"-Idea you had is quite very wellcome
and I'll add it to the "TODO"-List !

:D Believe it or not I was trying to push Derrow into the direction of filesize prediction allowing people to strip stuff till they reach DVD-R size. We all know how that turned out :(
I hope the link in the news will get you significant attention so that you'll keep on making your tool better.
A suggestion for the future: As you may know from personal experience when trying to strip things, you often mess with the navigation which can result in undesired behaviour. If you could analyze the navigational structure in the IFO and fix it (disabling buttons, change pre and post commands accordingly) this would be a big improvement.

I agree with with 1 and 2, but don't turn the program into a re-encoding program please! Perhaps with the option, but there are a lot of us who don't want to re-encode, but just split a dvd to 2 dvdrs as you mentioned the tool was for. I would put that at the bottom of the update list and focus on the other things first, like menus, and 1 and 2 above. Just my 2 cents. Thanks!

I Don't really think you need to add a burning feature either since it's not that tough to burn with another program.

Another idea would be to include the option to how you would like the movies to play once split, ie, Menu on disc 1, start movie right away on disc 2; start both discs with the movie right away. Just an idea to think about. That would fix the problem of some movies playing only the green warning screens by fixing that precommand.

@Josh

Don't panic.
Primarily DVDToolbox will be a tool for loose-less DVD backup !

But other features may come ....

@DOOM9

Thank you for supporting my project !
For the german users "Movie2Digital.de" is the board for comments/sugestions and errors messages.
Now I set this board for the english speaking people. Hope this is ok.

@All

I hope the designed version of the homepage for DVDToolbox will go online next week.
I'm not a html-programmer, so a good friend of mine will care about the page :D

Pleased to see a new tool coming out :)
And even more pleased to see the author looks that nice and friendly.

I visited the Movie2digital.de board a few times, but I forgot most of my German learned at school so I will welcome an english version :)

Keep up the good work :) but beware not to implement too many thing and turn your tool to a over-complicated software ;)

Can this be used on multi-episode DVD's or just one's with a single movie? Also, after stripping out the unwanted streams does the program remove the layer-break flag. This was a problem with the first release of DVD2ONE and caused many settop players to glitch when it encountered that spot on the dvd.

Thanks,
NickB

@NickB

multi-episode DVD's
No, sorry, currently only single movie !

layer-break
I'm not good informed in "DVD2One"-things .. .
But the thing should be the other way round.
The first versions of 2one copied the layer break; the new one deletes the layer break.

DVDToolbox doesn't write the layer break !
