While trying to use Instant Copy on Jay and Silent Bob disc 2 (extras), it gets to about 80-90% finished and then it just stops and disappears. It will leave the temp files in a location but thats it. Has Anyone else run across this prob?

WinXP
Athlon XP 2200
1gb Ram
120 WesternDigi 8mb cache

I can't heop with a solution, but I have exactly the same problem with "Barbershop". Running the latest version didn't seem to fix things. I even removed everything except "Title 1", but IC went away with no error messages part way through.

madmandiaz

are you giving IC an exact copy of the ripped DVD without modification ?

are you using IC to remove titles?

k17621

do not use IC to remove titles, I've have posted all over the forum about this and even showed examples of why not to do it

it cannot remove titles properly and sometimes either bombs out or doesn't remove them properly even if it does complete processing

if you continue to do this you are asking for problems :(

For what it is worth I had a great amount of difficulty backing this movie up, as did others on this forum. If you do a search on Silent Jay or the movie title you will see what I mean. Now this was back before the IC, DVD2One days but I had to do a movie only and chop half the credit with only one audio track to fit on to a DVDR. Not optimal but it worked for me. Let me know if you need/would like me to post back the steps and I will.

I've tried it all ways. After getting an iso file with DVDDecryptor, I've done run IC with no title modifications, as well as trying to check off titles. IC goes away no matter what combinations I try. I've done this a dozen or more times trying just about all combinations I can think of, and it always fails. Even exatrced to files (VIDEO_TS) and tried from that, and still no joy. Must be something special in that movie that IC hasn't dealt with yet.

you say you are using an ISO, have you tried file mode and used my recommended settings?

I'm aware this disc has a problem with some people but as I don't have it I cannot try all the things I would to isolate the problem so my suggestions are limited :(

my bad...didn't see the reference to disc two. if my foggy memory serves me correct I think it was due to interlaced content on disc one. no help to you though...sorry

This was happening to me when I realized that it wasn't just IC disappearing it was everything on the screen.

Light bulb hit my head at that point. My Puter was rebooting after a fatal error. I lowered my overclock and bingo it never happened again.

I would put forth the possibility that this is what is happening to you. Next time you try to encode the movie open a website or something and leave it up. If when you look again that is also missing then maybe you are rebooting.

I maybe way off, but I know this is what happened to me.

If IC is just disappearing when it crashes I bet you have the error reports turned off

I have just managed to overcome the Multicopy.exe error for the Simpsons that everyone has had with a little bit of tweaking and just waiting for it to finalize so I canb check DVD structure

I will be posting my findings in this thread

Yeah Mark... the same thing was happening to me a couple of days ago... then I remembered I was overclocking (143/143) and had very aggressive memory settings. As soon as I backed-off to 133/133 and applied more conservative memory settings, all the occassional hangs and crashes/reboots in IC stopped. Funny though, DVD2One and DVDecrypter and IfoEdit, none of these ever hung or crashed... just IC.

well after many many many dvd backups made with instant copy this has finally happened. I tried backing up rush hour 2 and it disappears at about 80%. I've ripped with dvd decrypter to iso and in filemode with it failing both times. This film is an infinifilm title which i have done before and no i'm not overclocked i don't know where this problem came from. and yes i keep all the titles. using win2k
if anyone has any ideas please feel free to share

u need to check where it crashes

you say 80%, is that the top or bottom bar?

what title is it processing?

rename the last PDI to .VOB and play it and seee where it crashes

then you need to find out what video is after that cos that causes the problem

and see if you can remove it, if not you need to set that title to 100% and it will bypass the bug

it's 80% of the total dvd i played the vob and it crashes at about 80% of pgc30 for some unknown reason doesn't appear to be a corrupt frame or anything like that so what i did was encode every other title besides that one and it worked fine but since the titleset was 1.6GB i had to reencode it so i used cce and reauthored the vts set and put it back with the rest i bit messy but it worked
