View Full Version : Beginner's DVD authoring problems

Hi,
I have just purchased a DVD writer for my PC for backups
and also to transfer home video to DVD with. I looked at
using ULead Movie Factory for the DVD authoring: It is
incredibly easy to use and does pretty much all I need it
to (including slideshows) _except_ hierarchical menus
which I think is something I particularly want. Next I tried
Sonics MyDVD: This _does_ have hierarchical menus too, but
when previewing the DVD it appears that after a movie clip
or slideshow has been viewed, instead of going back to the
menu it goes to the next movie/slideshow instead, which is
annoying. Even worse, when I then try to write to a DVD _or_
a hard drive (ie. vob files) it bums out during the writing
stage with and 'end of file error': On inspection all the
files seem present but none are viewable (even the achived
slideshow picture files are not viewable).

So the questions: Is there an authoring app. for beginners
like Movie Factory and MyDVD that does not have the
shortcomings/ problems mentioned above or does anyone know
how to resolve the issues I am having?

Thanks,

MadMike.

ive heard that DVDWorkshop is good, and if you want a more difficult program, ReelDVD is quite good, but with a few limitations.

madmike, I too noticed this 'feature' of MyDVD. There is an option for each slide show to determine whether or not to play the next slideshow, or return to the menu. I'm trying to burn a DVD with about 4 Gigs worth of slideshows on it right now, or I'd find out what the option is. I should be able to check it out in a week when Sonic is finished authoring this DVD.

Hope this helps.
