Just did a reformat and installed Vegas Video 3.0. My problem is: I cannot capture 48Hz audio from my Canon Optura Pi, only 16bit 32Hz. The camcorder is set on 16bit/48hz and I have captured these tapes before at 48Hz, but now after I reformated it will not. Windows movie maker 2.0 also will not capture audio in 48Hz, so I assume it isn't just a problem with Vegas. I have started a new project with all the appropriate settings just as before.

If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

You know, I never could find a definite answer for this. The problem isn't with your capture program at all; I've experienced this with 5 different programs (Ulead, DVIO, Scenalyzer, MS Movie Maker 2, LiveMotion Edit Studio). Then one day, they just started capturing my 48khz audio (same programs, same settings, nothing changed). I was using Premiere to capture, but it dropped more frames than I liked, so I looked for an alternative; this lead to the 32khz problem. For DVIO, to capture 48khz audio, the video must be started where 48khz is; that means, you can't start recording in a blank area of the tape, b/c the default audio is 32khz, so it will capture the entire stream @ 32khz.

My solution, I registered ScenalyzerLive and it captured 48khz audio fine. It has many other advantages as well.

My recommendation is to start capturing in the middle of a clip with 48khz audio, and see if it captures it correctly. If so, you may be starting in an area with 32khz, and it's getting all messed up.

I tried starting in the middle of the tape and it didn't help. I found your earlier post on this before I posted this. I was hoping you had found a cure. :)

I tried the demo of ScenalyzerLive and it captured at 48hz, but when I try to dump these files in Vegas for editing the audio isn't there, but the clip plays fine in media player or whatever?? This is frustrating. I've been capturing off of this camcorder with many different computers , including this one, for over a year and never had this problem. :mad:
