i recently tried to use gknots medium noise filter, for a compression test, and vdub returned straight away with no log file generated. through searching this board, i've discovered a) its a bug in spatialsoftenmmx (probably) and affects the heavy noise filter as well and b) a lot of people use convolution3d instead of the gknot default filters. so i was wondering:

could someone please post settings for c3d that are equivalent in strength to the little, medium and heavy noise filters normally used in gknot? and maybe a link to where can download c3d?

much obliged and sorry if i've missed this while searching.

Hi-

You can get C3D, and a bunch of other filters Here (http://www.avisynth.org/index.php?page=Section+3%3A+Filters+and+colorspaces#q3.3). Assuming that you have the AviSynth 2.07 that's installed along with GKnot 0.27. then you want the YUY2 filters and not the YV12 ones. The C3D readme has a good list of settings for different amounts of smoothing.

If you have a look at the .avs, you'll see that the Little Noise Filter uses TemporalSmoother, whereas the Medium and Heavy Noise filters use both TemporalSmoother and SpatialSoftenMMX.
