I hope my title isn't to confusing but here is the situation. I'm using dvd2avi 1.76 and it reports:
ratio: 16:9
rate:29.970
type: NTSC 1% (after full playback)

Most of that I have seen before, but where it gets weird is in the frame type. Throughout the entire playback it flickers back and forth between progressive and interlaced. I thought it might be a telecline situation so I looked for the horizontal lines and found evidence of them, but they appear just about anytime someone moves. So I'm not sure if its interlaced or teleclined. I hope I'm not asking a rookie question that has been answered 1x10^16 times, but I cannot find anything with the search for this subject.

The important part here is NTSC 1%! You should be able to use Decomb (or another IVTC) without any problems in AviSynth. Even if it flickers between Interlaced/progressive this should be a sufficiently low level of NTSC to make sure that almost any IVTC soultion will do it's job nicely.

Thanks for the quick response. You responded prior to my updating the post itself!
