View Full Version : PDI2ISO v0.10 released (InstantCopy to ISO)

Hi...
i've compared the PDI files generated from InstantCopy with the iso file generated by UltraISO 5.5 and found out, that the pdi files ARE iso files with a small header (size 130h bytes) in front of the first file (and it looks like if also at the end of the last file).
So i've written a small utility called PDI2ISO which
1) creates a new file with extension iso and
2) and copies all of the pdi-files into the new iso WITHOUT that header.
Your original files are NOT touched!!!
After comparing my iso file with the iso files generated by UltraISO i've found out, that my files are longer. But my files are identical up to the point where the UltraISO files ends. Extracting the files from my iso files with IsoBuster works ok and "gives" the same files (file compare) as the extracted files from ultraedit!
NEW VERSION: The file can be downloaded at pdi2iso_011.zip (http://www.mitlaender.de/download/pdi2iso_011.zip)
Due to fact that the generated iso file contains all *.pdi?? files you've to store the iso file on a partition capable of storing files > 2GB (e.g. NTFS).
Regards,
Gerd Mitländer
PS: Use at your own risk. Zip file should be virus free (checked with McAfee definition 4.0.4247).

Hi...
Oh... So we've worked twice... :-(
I've written it in the last 2h or so and had not searched for a other app. Sorry...

Your Windows interface is useful. I'm using both apps now and I'm going to compare the outcome to see if they create identical files.

They don't match. Your file is 1999 bytes smaller. Your file can't be loaded by DVDDecryptor, with the error "File size is not a multiple of its sector size." I think you need to pad what you removed.
Dos Tool: 4.12 GB (4,425,332,736 bytes)
Windows Tool: 4.12 GB (4,425,330,737 bytes)

Hi...
i'm currently working on that problem. But i'm currently not sure if i've to add padding on the end or, what UltraISO does, cuts after a multiple of 2048 bytes.
I think, that i'll work on it tonight.

Gerd Mitländer
PS: Have you created a iso image with dvd decrypter from a burned pdi and compared that with the iso files from dos/win version?

Hi...
i've finished pdi2iso_011.zip (http://www.mitlaender.de/download/pdi2iso_011.zip).
New features:
- padding with zeros (at end) to a multiple of 2048 bytes.
- iso image can be opened and burned without problems with dvddecrypter.

The source is included in the other pdi2iso version. Perhasp you should change the name of your app to have less confusion?

I've though about it. What name would you suggest? PDI2ISO-GUI or so?

MrWGT
would you consider adding an option for NON-NTFS output?
That is generating a DVD Decrypter compatiable segmented
ISO file? (with the .DVD header file and the multiple 1gb ISO,
I01, I02, etc files). It would make it a little more useful IMHO.
as for a name..ermmmm... PDISO-Maker?

IC-pdi2iso-GUI
or WGT-pdi2iso
ic- part is needed to differentiate from pdi2iso...otherwise people will think it's just a gui and they need the pdi2iso.exe program to use it.

Hi MrWGT,
Thanks for this great little utility. I never ceases to amaze me the clever people we have that are part of this online community.
Cheers

@MrWGT:
Would it be possible to modify your program so instead of creating an "iso" file it can creates a "VIDEO_TS" folder (Ifo, VOB, BUP, etc)?

Cannot open pdi2iso_011.zip with Winzip. Only 1 KB transferred. Too much traffic to download pdi2iso_011.zip??

open up the file with notepad, I bet it is html. You must copy and paste the URL into the browser location window to avoid anti-leech software.

I have just released PDIxtract with exactly this funtionality: extract the content of a .pdi files set. look here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46206).

For some reason when attempting to convert .pdi files to .iso, I get a message that the Conversion Failed.
Any ideas? Using IC v70091.
*Edit* LOL, nevermind. The files were in use by another program.

Would it be possible for one of you to add in the ability to add a AUDIO_TS directory to the ISO as it converts it?
That would help those of us that have DVD players that require that directory to exist (since InstantCopy does not include that directory)
My main DVD player is fine, but my player in the bedroom requires that directory and it would be so nice if one of these programs could just stick it in there during the conversion to ISO
Thanks
