View Full Version : Don't want to activate DVD ripping - DaemonTools

Hello!
Often I create an DVD-ISO-image with DVDdecrypter and mount this image with DaemonTools.
Then I let DVD2SVCD run over the virtual DVD drive.

At the moment it is so, that DVD2SVCD makes a copy of all needed VOB's.
Isn't there any way to use the original VOB's from the virtual drive without needing to copy the VOB's again?

Yes, I can deselect "Activate DVD ripping" under "DVD Rip", but then I always get the message that I try to ripp from an removal drive and so I'm forced to enable the ripping-option again.

If it is a real physical DVD-drive ripping is really useful, but if I'm using a virtual-drive I think it's useless...

The whole point of Daemon tools is to fake your computer out so that it believes the file IS a DVD drive. So, no there is no way to do what you ask.

In this case, I would suggest you rip with DVDDecrypter in File mode by selecting all the files.

This way you won't have to rip twice.

@waldok
THX for the tip, but I normally also want to watch the DVD with WinDVD, so the ISO is the best choice for me...

First I thaught, that DVDdecrypter already kills all useless protections so that we can direct use the VOB's from the image.
Now I have done a filecompare with the ISO VOB's and that onces that DVD2SVCD creates and they were complete different.

We can't have everything and I'm very happy to have this fatastic tool called DVD2SVCD :-)
Without it I would have much more troubles to transcode my movies to SVCD...

You can easily watch the DVD even though it was ripped in file mode. Just use the "Play DVD from folder.." option and point WinDVD to your VIDEO_TS dir where you ripped the files. If you don't have a VIDEO_TS dir, just create it and move all the ripped files to it.

No problem at all, works fine.
