Hi all,
Just finished using instant copy for the first time, and after it had done all the processing, the finished size was 4.2 gig.
Am i right in thinking its this size because of the limitations the software has, first five mins of audio ac3, is it then that the sound goes altogether, or does it reencode to 2 channel sound.
TIA
Wiggy.

Doom9 answered that already in another thread:
the undersize issue was discussed in mb1's article (see the news on my site).. for short it has something to do with how InstantCopy calculates quality (dvd2one just constantly reduces the bitrate, InstantCopy reduces the bitrate in function of quality).. there's a safety buffer of 6% (if they'd want to be completely accurate they'd have to analyze the whole video stream, not just 15-30% of it which would obviously take even longer). The whole story can be seen on this page: http://www.dvd-svcd-hilfe.de/forum/mb1/instantcopy7/instant2.htm
At the moment the page is in german only; maybe use a webtranslator for at least some sense :D
I'm currently working on an english translation ...
On page 6 there are some tricks, too. Trick 2 handles with overcoming the 4,32 GB limitation. So one can set 4,5 or 4,6 GB to get a final size of 4,3 or 4,35 GB.
But at your own risk and the risk to get more than 4,377 GB (which is max for DVD-R)

Trick 2 is down the site ...
Ahh, forgot to say the 5 min ac3 limitation belongs to ac3 conversion only. Practically it has only means for svcd creation but not any impact on dvd 2 dvd ...
So the trial is fully functional for 15 days.
Maybe set a recovery point before installation :D
