I try to burn the .pdi file to the DVD-r on Sony-500A, InstantCopy
pop up the following message
"Please insert a blank Disc with at least 4,332 MB (2,217,944 Sectors) free space"

Burning to DVD+RW disk works, but to DVD-R does not work.

Any help?

I have that burner and I am doing my first DVD-R test burn now. DVD+RW worked fine. I'll post the result in about 30 minutes.

This is what happen to me.
When I insert the DVD+RW, and right click on "Sony drive" icon and
choose the property, in the DISC tab, I see the disk information.

If I insert the DVD-r, In the DISC tab, I see nothing

Blank DVD-R worked for me on the Sony. Is the image under the size limit? Are you sure that the DVD-R you're using is blank?

Other than that, I'm not coming up with any ideas.

Ok, just finished burning. Here is the run down on the DVD-R:

On this PC, under PowerDVD: Fine

On my JVC DVD Player: Fine

On my Apex DVD Player: Fine

To me it sounds like you are having a media problem. Did you try another DVD-R? The disc I copied to test only came out to 4.06gb after transcoding, maybe that is why I am not experencing a problem, it is not even close to the max size of a DVD-R.

the size should be smaller than the disk, it fits the DVD+RW
I try 2 different brand of DVD-r and many different disk without
success. Maybe I need to upgrade my firmware. I still using the
"d", I think the new one is "g"?

I'm on 'f' here. This is the version that increases the write speed of a lot of media, definately give it a go.
