The question is:
Which is the only way to correctly apply gamma correction to an 8-bit per channel source?
Is it necessary to use a 16 bit per channel internal precision?
If this were the case: Does it have sense to upgrade gamma correction filters to work with 16 bit per channel precision, just to get a decent correction?
