instant copy reg trick

i would like to test ep2 movie only with instant copy
therefor i need to deselect some titles
but they are "grey"

then i saw this tip from mb1:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VoB\CD Wizard\7.0\Copy] "DVDMagic"=dword:00000001
changing this key from 0 to 1 should help

but 1. i had no reg entry like DVDMagic
and 2. adding this manually, didnt help, still grey, not deselectable

any help ? or is this a demo limitation ?

Works fine for me...people keep saying wow...if we can keep dvd2one for when we don't want menus, etc. Well with this registry hack for InstantCopy you can deslect the VTS and Title that you don't wish to transcode, etc. Works great.

demo...I ain't got the full yet..it's on order
you can unselect a title but it unselects all titles in that VTS (video title set). Example if I unselect title 3 then title 3 to 31 are all unselected on this paticular dvd. You can't uncheck 'Video Tracks' (menus) otherwise the whole titles aren't avaible.

now it works, dont know what i did wrong, but i cant select main movie only.

when i deselect the menu and select the main movie only, instant copy shows me a size of 0. i can move the slider in every position, still size=0.

this is boring, cause menu to 30%, it is still over 220mb !
i only want the main movie ! especially for films like ep2.

(also instant copy gives me for ep2 1:1 copy only around 4,04gig)

any idea how to copy main movie only (w/o menus, extras,...) with instant copy ?

Ive tried the reg trick multiple times and its pissing me off.
When I click the reg file the dvdmagic only shows up in HKEY CURRENT USERS and HKEY USERS.
Should it also show up in HKEY LOCAL MACHINE?
I running xp and installed instant so any user can access the program.

i have them both setted, but still cant "uncheck" any titles

think may it depends on system or so, some work, some not

the bigger prob i think is the sizing,

1st try was ~4.00 gigs result
2nd try was ~4.45 gigs result

so, 2nd movie now "transcoded 2 times and both where too big

so i will try now 3rd time by setting size down to ~ 4.15 gigs,
to get final an 4.30 or so, may that helps ;)

may someone have an clue why the reg hack doesnt work on all systems,
or is it may only working with the trial

and this is what I did
first off I installed the retail version and couldnt find the dvdmagic reg file to change from 0 to 1 anywhere.
Here what I did to fix the problem.
I unistalled the retail.
rebooted.
deleted all mentions of vob in the registry.
rebooted.
installed the demo.
rebooted.
did a search in the registry for dvdmagic changed o to 1 rebooted. then opened up the deme and now I can deselect titles.
Now I will try and install the retail again and see if I can get the titles to deselect in that.
I hope this helps....

I couldn't find the "DVDMagic" regkey everyone was talking about earlier, but the Zip file above worked just fine on my Win2000 machine.

I don't seem to be able to get this to work either.

I have a retail copy, v7.0.0.91 2/5/2003 3:15:54PM. I never installed the demo, just waited for the full version.

I ran the reg file & I also added it under the same thing in HKLM.

Where is the custom stuff supposed to be or show up? Is it a new tab, a button, what?

Okay, I finally found it. You have to select "custom size" under the DVD tab. Knew that. Then when you're ready, you hit start. The source & destination dialog boxes come up, select those, then it looks like it starts. After 3-4 seconds of processing, THEN the custom dialog box comes up and you can select which parts to keep, change, etc.

ya just uninstalled the retail and installed the demo.. DOGH.

I tryed also to uninstall the retail, leaving all the regs.
Installed the demo again (maybe he saws it as the registered copy)
But no once again the 13day limit, but the good part was that i had
back the deselect function.

I also saw on the full retail version that there's no Automatic in the Customize window (where you can slide more q to each title)

It DOES NOT WORK on that version, 7.0.0.80. You need the newer version v7.0.0.91.

That version you have has showed up on the net as a w*rez copy. It may be an early retail, I don't know but you need the .91 version for the reg trick to work.

When you apply the reg trick make sure you have closed out of Instant Copy first....if you don't this is what happens:

You apply it and you'll see it change immediately in your registry however you can utilize deselecting VTS until you close IC.

As soon as you close IC you can't see your registry reset itself to 0 again.

So close IC then apply reg trick then should work.

You should see it change to something like 0000001 from 000000. Unless you typo'd that and meant "I can see that it has changed to a 0."

It has changed from 0x00000001 into 0x00000000.
but still i can't select anything what i want.

1: Install. Pinnacle instantcopy v7.0.0.91 mulitlingual retail.
2: Insert the patch into the same directory as IC.
3: Run the patch.

2)download and open up zip file...

I did follow your instructions but it didn't help me out a bit.

The reghack via downloaded file worked fine for me with the demo. It did not work for me with the, uhh, "test" .80 retail version. The maual registry edit also worked for me on another computer IF you do it correctly, but why? Just use the .reg file and import it automatically.

Two computers it worked on are a dual MP2400 (Tyan Tunder K7) and a dual P3 933mhz.

BTW - I don't even know why I put the hardware specs there. It is NOT a hardware problem. It is software, pure and simple. My opinion is it is a PEBCAK problem.

Just finished reading all the posts on here... Xperience, after unzipping the registry hack and starting up Instant Copy (with mrbass' guide handy), did you try hitting start?

IC does a quick check/test... which appears like it's duping without any of the customization features, and then takes you to the customization screen where you can select/deselect the goods.

So far, so good. Did about 10 dvds via IC7 so far. I have to say, it beats the hell oughta using 2 DVDRs to copy a movie. The downside, navigation is still hit/miss. Some work fine (Murder By Numbers; Spiderman animated stuff), some are pretty whacked. For the most part-stopping the disc (if funky) and hitting play again will start the movie ok (on apex; pioneer; phillips dvdrw drive--my Sucko, er... Sampo player doesn't like any IC stuff).

The reg-hack trick works for me. After I've changed the DVDMagic value to 0x0000001 I started the IC7, but I could not deselect other titles. I looked at registry again, see the value was turned to ist original: 0x00000000, so I leave the IC7, change it angain. After that all things work perfectly!

I use the .91 version (released by flockreactor) and runing a windows 2000 SP2.

finally got my hands on version 7.0.091, I was stuck with 7.0.0.80 and shop were I bought it refused to exchange it and pinnacle was not responding to my questions for un upgrade. So I found my way on the net and was able to download 7.0.0.91 full version. Comparing the two it seems that only a few files are different, no need to download all files. Furthermore my serial number of version 7.0.0.80 was accepted without a problem by this 7.0.0.91 version. Think simple replacement of files in instantCD+DVD dir in program files would do the job and of course add the reg key DVDmagic

Anyhow as the update is version 7.0.1.114 I think it should work, just give it a try, you can always go back to your original version

I've directly change the DVDMAgic key value in the registry (I'm under W2K, IC 114 release) ; the result is :
- when I select "customized size", I effectively can choose Title
- ...but IC compile all Title !!
has anybody experience that ? I'm making others tests to see if I can reproduce it.

don't feel sorry that you can not deselect titles. If you do and burn a disk the chance is big you end up with a DVD which will not play on a standalone as IC7 butchers the IFO and vob files in a wrong way when deselecting titles. Hi, can some1 tell me whats wrong with my version, with latest update applied. I cannot choose any settings I just choose source and destination then it does its thing scanning etc.

Also does it normally take about real time? I tried the hidden settings exe from mrbass but not sure they were applied.
