brun it with InstantCopy. Select HardDisk as source, right-click and select the image. Select DVD-burner as destination. Press start.

What if we actually want to mount that image before burning? Any way to extract the files again?

afaik there's no program capable of mounting or extracting a PDI file.

That's a bummer. I guess I'll be burning my InstantCopy images to a RW and checking the quality and adding any DVD-Rom extras such as computer games or screensavers, etc. before the final burn.

Once Instant copy makes a copy of a disk can I make a secondary copy by copying that DVD? Or should I keep that PDI file hidden away for someday when I need it?

Anything you burn with InstantCopy will be unprotected. So, yes, you can copy it. I'd advise ripping it to HD first even if you have a reader and burner.

You can appened .vob to the .pdi files and preview quality in PowerDVD. Only the first .pdi is not viewable but 01, 02, 03, etc. is. Only thing though is you can't test subtitles, languages, etc cuz the .ifo isn't loaded.

I figured the .0x files were just renamed VOB's, given their .99gb size. The first file is probably a VOB as well, just with the IFO's mixed in, in some propritary format.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. I guess it makes the process a little longer now. I'll still want to remove FBI warnings and such. And if I rip the files to the hard drive first, then process with IfoEdit, I can't add the DVD-ROM extras, if any. Arghhh!

Why not? There are many different things you can do with IfoEdit, including removing FBI warnings with everything else intact.

I used to burn all my DVD's with Nero, and then I realised that not a SINGLE dvd would play in my bedroom Apex player. They worked in every other player I tried them in, just not my el cheapo Apex. No idea why, but if I ripped the data from the non working DVD then burned that with RecordNow, it worked fine.
That being said, I just burned a DVD-R with InstantCopy, and it worked fine in every DVD player I tried, including my Apex player. I think you will be alright using it to burn.
If all else fails, use RW media to test.

However, then I can't edit out material before burning because we can't get into the .PDI file.
