Tried to use the trial, but it all does not make any logic. In destination there is only hard disc, nothing can be added as there are no drivers to choose from.
How does one select ripped DVD folder & destination?
I try but it gives some error about not being able to create pdi file?
DVD2One was at least logical

ok this is what I did..cuz I couldn't figure it out either.
I chose ISO | Read in dvddecrypter
Then mount that big fat juicy flamebroiled 8GB .iso in daemon-tools then selected that as the source in Instant copy (dvd stealth drive).
Choose 'customized resize' to lower size of extras and increase size of transcoded movie. Do registry hack if you wish to deselect PGC..like menus, extras, etc. Here's .registry hack (http://www.membo.org/IC7_MovieOnly_reg.zip)
Then you just write it to a dvd burner. (I ain't got one yet) so I chose my harddisk. You can preview the .pdi just appened a .vob at the end. (movie.pdi01.vob | movie.pdi02.vob, etc.) in PowerDVD but you can't view the first one though cuz of extra cruft

Somehow even I have 1 DVD writer & 1 CD writer in my system they are not available as destination.
I can not add them, as I have NO drivers (where they should be) to choose from. And if I select hard disc as destibation I get error: "Failed to set data x:\xxxx\xxx.pdi"
No idea what is wrong, as my whole system is working fine with Nero, ASPI layer etc

Uhm... Well, all I did was rip the entire DVD (xXx) to my harddrive... load up InstantCopy, modified the settings and saved my own custom profile and I'm currently in the middle of transcoding everything. When I pressed the "Start" button, I did select "DVD Folder" and that allows you to find "VIDEO_TS.ifo" for your ripped movie (in my case it was C:\XXX\VIDEO_TS\")... I'll post results later.

sebus,
There's a .pdf manual in the directory you installed InstantCopy into. You'll need Acrobat Reader to read it.
Hope that helps,

I am in the process of ripping a dvd to my hard drive, because of copyright protection instant copy would not copy it. I have chosen DVD Decryptor to do this, I have chosen File mode and selected all files. How do I find it once I have finished ripping it or do I need to use another mode for ripping.

Coach.
Use "Hard Disk" as source in InstantCopy, right click and select the VIDEO_TS file you just ripped as image.

Once you've decrypted the files to your hard drive. Start up InstantCopy and select "Copy CD/DVD" and for your source click "Hard Disk" and choose your destination, either your DVD drive or your hard drive. Click "Start" and then you'll be able to browse and load your VIDEO_TS.IFO that DVDDecrypter copied to your hard drive for you.
Good luck

Even the simplest things seem to have me stuck. I have my file on the hard drive, I have selected the DVD drive as my destination to burn. Do I need to select DVDr in profile, I have done this. When I select start the program goes through all the process of checking the file on the hard drive and I can see it in the top box. It then says it is starting the process but it does not seem to be writing to my DVD Drive, also it says the finished file will be 4.98GB. Have I given it enough time to process the files and why is the file larger than what would fit onto a DVDr. I also could not find the options of sizing the different files manually like the extras and the main movie.
Help and guidance required yet again, off to bed now I'll try again later today.
Coach.

I can even figure out how the software works without it. Providing the software behaves as expected.
I do not have any destination drives & can NOT add any, cause if I select Assign Driver, I get a box with is SUPPOSED to have drivers in there to select. But is TOTALLY empty!

I threw up a small Instant Copy guide...not extensive or anything like mb1's ...just might help one totally new. Most though can just fire it up and figure it out on their own. I wrote it for any friends (lazy bums) asking me for help I'll just point them to my guide although I doubt they'll read it.

Thank MrBass.
I just wanted to give this new toy a try, but I definitely am one of these lazy bums so I appreciate your effort here :)

Thanks for the guide mrbass. One question though...
You say in the guide, "Rip DVD to harddrive with DVDDecrypter. Choose Mode IFO | CTRL-A to select ALL files | Rip".
However, your screenshot clearly shows you ripping in File mode. So is it better to rip in IFO or File mode? I guess I'm not to real clear on the difference between the two. Thanks.

Thanks for the guide. I will try it tonight and post my results. I still want to say that DVD2ONE has been so far the best software for me. It's fast and the quality is great. All my DVD players are compatible with the burned DVD-R. Anyways like i said, i will try tonight and post results.
Thanks again to all the great effort you guys put on this forum.

Is it possible to remove the menus entirely? For some movies I really don't need them...and DVD2ONE has trouble on my system.

@mordant:
You can achieve this with the help of three steps:
- Resize the menu to 100% (so they need no processing time) and add their size to the main movie. Just make the main movie 4.35 gb big. now the whole image is oversized and you need to press F5 bevore starting
- extract the .pdi file set with PDIxtract (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46206) and delete all files except the VOBs of the main movie. rename the vob files to VTS_01_x.VOB if the main movie wasn't in vts 1
- fire up IFOedit (0.95) and select create .ifos, now select the
VTS_01_1.VOB just created and let IFOedit create a new ifo
you now can burn the result without wasting space for any menus with your favorite burning app

If you have the full version of DVD2ONE you should not have any problems. You need to use DvdDecrypter to rip the movie to your hard drive (in file mode) and then use DVD2ONE to compress the movie. It's as simple as that. I am using the first version that came out and i will not switch to anything else cause it works like a charm for me!!!!! This method will give you only the movie with nothing else. I think thats what you were asking for, right?

Thanks Schlaufer, will this still retain the chapters?
Arenavles: I do have a full and paid for version of DVD2ONE. The program does not work on my system. Believe me, I've tried every ripping process there is (smart/decrypter/rip to image/rip from mounted image/file/movie/iso ect). DVD2ONE always stops at some point with an "encrypted data detected" error.
InstantCopy on the other hand does not give me this problem.
I'm not slighting DVD2ONE as a program. I realize that it works for the vast majority of users. There are a few people though that run into this problem, and the DVD2ONE people can not recreate the problem so they can not solve it (as yet - nor are they really looking into it).
The latest version doesn't work for me either.

This will retain chapters. The different chapters are stored in different cells in the VOB file and IFOedit will create new chapter entries in the IFO for them. But you will need the next chapter/jump to chapter functions of your player's remote control to access them since there are no menus any more.
