in cinema craft i must uncheck the upper field fist (a matrox capped video must be checked)
the default for dv video is lower field first donīt?
im capturing in realtime mpeg2 interlaced, and after i must use restream to correct the this. or dvd motion will be terrible...
im on xp, using btwincap and graphedit to capture (but any program capture in wrong field)

I just wanna share my capturing experience with you!
I test different capturiogn software when I was experimenting with my Lifeview Flyvideo 3000. All my capture is 480*480 or 576 depending on my source. When I use Fly2000TV, Ulead Video Studio I get upper field first..I encode with TMPG to SVCD so TMPG will tell you what field they are. However when I use Virtual VCR..that'sthe funny part..It sometimes gives me Upper field first and sometimes bottom first.I was puzzled too!Sometimes I uses CCE too depending on what kind of movie I wanna encode. It just happen to me 2 days ago..If I wanna think then I say it's a problem with capturing software.
If I use native Lifeview capture software..It will be bottom first! I do not know which field my TV card will capture..but that doesn't bother me...becos or I need to do is just load into TMPG and it will tell me!
By the way..I had a show capture in VIrtual VCR..loaded in TMPG and it shows upper field first. However I wanted to encode this show in CCE as this is a VERY high action scene( a lot of fast fighting) becos TMPG wasn't giving best SVCD output.
So since it shows in TMPG that it upper field first..I check the box upper field first in CCE which is check by default...burn to CD and play on my DVD player...show was all jerky..and I say shit..Din I encode upper field first..why is it all jerky..becos from my experience I know it's a wrong field encoding..so I uncheck upper field first in CCE and encode again..this time was right!
So was TMPG wrong is the field order? or was it with CCE?
From my experince with TMPG...which 90% of all my movies encoded with it! I say it has no problems with field order..So I think it's a problem with CCE with Field order encoding!
My best advice..is to get thoroughly familiar with your encoder and capturing software and use it as a set pattern!
Problem along the line could be capturing software or CCE..use TMPG and check it out! Play with your video and u know what I'm saying!

TNKS FOR YOUR REPLY!
hehe... strange dont? .. :)
all appz who i uses to capture make top field first...
my way to see if field was right, os rename to XXX.vob and open direct in power dvd (must be .vob)
if the field was wrong, is look veeery jerky (more then open in WMP whit a mpeg2 filter, to make more easy detect the wrong field) need change.. now im using EasyChange, is betterthan rempeg because do not do 2 files.... only patch (appears)
im using graphedit to do realtime mpeg2/ac3 capture, but will solve my problems if ulead mpeg encoder filter hold the settings...
i put to encode in top field first but is always change back to lower... is just accept, i change, and look again, it return to lower...
but at least my card do always the top field... (better than randon field)
but i wanna reduce process time at maximun!!!!
capture - autor the dvd with ifoedit. fast and easy...
but this damn fiels order is making me crazy... iv tried a LOOOT of capture appz... allways wrong field... tried dozen of drivers... always the same... but im happy now... BUT only this rest to make my life better... hehe.. :)
when use virtual dub for capture, i have to change all field settings in premiere (for editing) change field in plugins, and etc... sucks...
i was using tmpeg and CCE, but im now only using cce... is faaast...
iv tried too use the vdub bt878 tweaker, no sucess...
but.... my hope never end.. :)
tnks simdavid!
please, share knowledge!
