just thought of something that might be usefull to some,
im trying this now with a multi-pgc title, so it might not work
but for a sinle pgc, it should be no probs.
instead of using a padding, choose one or two extra audio track eg. 2.0 sound or 5.1 (unnecassary languages)(also subtitles if many)
so it covers the menu files etc. and after encode, do a consecutive author with ifoedit and strip the stream you saved in the first place. then just ifoupdate with orginal ifo.

Can't gurantee it works, but I think so.

Do not think that would work because how many DVDs out there have Audio Streams that are bigger than all of the Menus and Extras combined?

ok I see what you mean but it works for some titles and pal dvd's often have several 5.1 audio tracks +the occasional 2.0 audio, and I only meant if you wanted some space for menu.
+ I use diffrent applications (cce, scenartist etc) if I want to get a proper rip with extras etc.
this was only meant for an easy way to get menu with dvd2one rip

Just wanted to add that it works fine this way to, if you wanna keep menu etc.
I did "The Saint" (single pgc) by adding 2.0 directors commentary in dvd2one, then stripping it with ifoedit.
(extras and menus where only 100mb to begin with, so the total size landed at 4.3GB after update
