View Full Version : directshow_player won't "stay" on 2nd monitor

dear members,

this time I have no clue what I have [possibly] done, respectively what causes this really strange behaviour.

I can't get any ds_player to play on fullscreen_mode on my second monitor anymore. It is no problem to shuffle e.g. MPC on the second screen but at the moment I try to activate 'fullscreen_mode' the movie is shown at fullscreen resolution on my first screen (pc monitor). ZoomPlayer won't even be shuffled on the 2nd screen - just stays pigheaded on the first. If I turn on multimonitor_support using BSPlayer and choose TV as my first display than I have a green screen on TV.

now the "funny" part...

I can use WMP9 to view movies and can watch DVD's [using WinDVD] on my TV and both at fullscreen resolution.

The day before yesterday I did a complete fresh system installation and viewing movies on the 2nd screen with any of the mentioned players worked flawless. Since then I only installed 2 new things on my pc:

1. AlparyDenoise.ax / and deinterlace.ax (both can be found on this webpage: http://www.alparysoft.com/) - I've already unregistered these two ds_filters but with no success (aside from that, they couldn't have any influences but who knows)
2. I've installed 3dmark 2001se but I couldn't get it to work [I've installed DX9 and 3dmark 2001se was complaining about missing DX8.1 :D] and therefore I have uninstalled 3dmark 5min later...

I have no clue at all what could have screwed up my system! Fiddling around with my displays won't help. I've always used my 'standard configuration' - as you can see it here:

- http://www.sahnau.de/skotscha/config02.jpg
- http://www.sahnau.de/skotscha/config03.jpg

Where is the lack in my brain that I can't get it to work anymore  :D

any help would be much appreciated!! The winner/ my rescuer will get a BIG HUG :p  - hey, it's st. valentine

cheers and thanks in advance

Sill

This may or may not help...but I saw something in config03...

I have been using laptops with ATI chipsets for several years. My experience has been that while I can have 3 monitors (internal, external, and TV-out), directshow video will display only on the "primary" monitor.

Try setting the TV to "1" and the PC monitor to "2" and see if that solves the problem.

hi jggimi,

thanks for your reply :)

and now... hang me HIGH!!

the "mystery" is solved for ZoomPlayer. For some reason I've enabled "make sure user interface remains on-screen" - dont ask me why and of course don't ask me why and of course don't ask me why ...

disabling this option solved the problem.

BSPlayer now works after I changed 'use overlay' from mode2 to mode1 - no solid green screen anymore.

But MPC is still tricky - as I said I can shuffle the player on the 2nd screen [TV] but as soon as I enable fullscreen the picture/ movie is displayed on my 1st monitor [PC]... strange, strange - gabest?!! :D

concerning your solution...

yes, that was the way before I got my fingers on 'DVD-Region free', because my ATI-AIW has macrovision protection and I couldn't get any DVD to play on my TV using the above mentioned configuration. The only player which was able to do that was Hero(soft) DVD-Player. But this player suc** and with 'DVD-Region free' I'm now able to use any DVD-Player.

Ok, now after you hung me high please apologize my stupid question... :stupid:

with kind regards Sill
